......Dan VS Hercule!!! XD

By: starlordtitus Jun 29, 2011 | 5 Comments

Dan from Street Fighter. Hercule from Dragon Ball Z. Who has the biggest mouth? And more importantly, who would win in a fight! XD

Reader's Note: The following fight can be read with the music video included in this story when prompted to activate it. In addition, the video itself is also quite hilarious.

3 scenes take place.

2 aliens from the Dragon Ball Z universe are seen testing out their latest contraption, an interdimensional matter transporter.  One gets in his craft and flies out to space. Analyizing inhabited planets he decides to transport himself to different planets without the need of interstellar space travel. He then arrives on Earth.

Hercule is at a press conference declaring himself the most accomplished retired fighter. "Ahahahaha! Ohhhh yeah! I'M THE CHAMP! Noooo one can beat Hercule ahahahaha!". Reporter: Hercule sir, what about those fighters who seemed to be able to fly?? And it seems you are somehow associated with them?" (Hercule) Uhhh those are just some of my friends who graduated from a magic school in France! ;D, yeah that's right one of them married my daughter Videl and she told me how it's just a bunch of parlor tricks and smoke and mirrors". Reporter: "Oh...I see >.>" (Hercule) "Yeah umm....OH! Suddenly my stomach hurts! Oh um we're gonna have to conclude this later, be sure to talk to my agent if you want another interview. Ba bye!" Reporters: "Wait! Hercule!"

Dan is finished putting up the finishing touches on his dojo. (Dan) Ahh yes! Before you know it, this dojo will be swarming with young ambitious students, waiting to call me their sensei! I can see it now, bowing their heads to me and following my every move! Not to mention the ladies that will come swarming when they hear how successful my dojo will be! I'll be the talk of the town! AH HA HA HA HA HO HO!

The alien has been observing planet Earth and decides to talk a walk on it's surface to observe it's beauty.  He see's a crowd of people apparently chasing after a man. (Reporters) "Wait Hercule we still have some questions! And your interview is not yet done with us for another half hour!" (Hercule) "I'm sorry but this can't wait no longer! I have to find a bathroom!". The alien stares at the strange man with the fro as he runs towards him.......runs towards him? The alien tries to run away but Hercule crashes into the alien and hits the interdimensional device and causes it to malfunction! Suddenly a flash of of light blazes out and Hercule and the alien disappear! (Reporter) "Oh no, where did he go. It must be one of the tricks his son in law taught him!"

Dan is laughing away, looking at his big sign on his dojo. He turns around to walk and hits head! (Dan) "Ow!! Ahh errr, hey! Watch where you're going! Hercule massaging the bump on his forehead looks up. (Hercule) "Uhh sorry.....um hey! Where are we? And what is that thing!" Hercule points at the alien. He moves closer to look at him...(Hercule) Hey, are you the one that got me away from those reporters? Haha thanks a lot! The paparazzi sure can be trouble at times." (Dan) "Paparazzi?" (Hercule) "Hm? Yeah, you know reporters." (Dan) "Are you famous or something?". (Hercule)[dramatic music is heard] "........ .......... ........OHHHHHH YEEEAAH! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I'M HERCULE! THE WORLD'S GREATEST RETIRED FIGHTER! If you don't know about me you've been living under a rock!"

(Dan) Really...well I've never heard of you! I at least have my own dojo as you can see. And this place will soon be swarming with students, all in line to learn from ME! DAN THE MAN! I'm sure you've seen the flyers?" (Hercule) "Flyers? I haven't seen anything, all I know is I crashed into this little alien dude and winded up here. And besides this dojo is small, I've got a whole gym where fighters practice my techniques all the time. Yep, I even have a whole city named after me!" (Dan) A whole city? HA! You don't look like much to me, though your mustache is decently masculent. (Hercule) "Yeah? Well its TRUE. And you can stick that in your pony tail. (Dan) "HEY! My pony tail displays that even a MAN can have great hair, something you wouldn't know about with your 70's fro!" (Hercule) "Oh yeah!?" (Dan) "YEAH!" The two exchange angry sparks while face to face.

(Hercule) "That does it! There's only one way to settle this, we're both fighters so put em' up!" (Dan) I thought you'd never ask! But I should warn you, I am skilled in the art of Hadou. (Hercule) You can call your style whatever you want, but my world  championship belt says it all!"

Hercule and Dan walk outside to an open area. They take their stances. They stare at each other as if a cowboy show down from the old West. Then suddenly, simultaneously they yell and attack. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" The two square off immediately, matching blow for blow! Dan short jumps for a barrage of kicks, but Hercule blocks each one! Hercule then counters with 5 hit combo but Dan is able to dodge and block the last hit! They break off and seperate. (Dan) "Alright it's time to show you what I can do!" (Hercule) "Bring it on!". Dan focuses his energy and prepares to fire a hadouken! Hercule noticing the gathering of energy begins to worry. (Hercule Thinking) "Oh no, not another one of these smoke and mirrors freaks! I don't really have a defense for energy based attacks except to run! But I can't just back down. I gotta think of something......wait a minute I got it!". Hercule reaches into his pocket in searches for some pepper spray. But instead he finds the present bombs he had when he was first fighting Majin Buu. (Hercule Thinking) "Well I don't want to kill him! But maybe I can set it and make it go off near him and escape in all the smoke. Ahahaha I'm a genius!". Suddenly Dan fires the hadouken! Hercule's eyes light up! He's out of time! The hadouken travels a few feet.....but disappears. -.-' They both stare at each other disappointed. (Hercule) "Ahahahaha is that all you got!?" (Dan) "HEY! It's not as easy as you think! >.<". (Hercule) "Why don't you just call it quits and go back to your dojo!" (Dan) "I'm not done yet!"

The two dash towards each other, but suddenly Hercule stops. (Hercule) "Wait! You know what? I don't want really fight you, yeah sure I just want to be friends, in fact I left you  a present over there" (Dan) "Whaaa?" (Hercule) "Yeah Hercule is that kind of cool guy, oooohhhhh yeeeaaah hahahaha. SO, I'll just let you look at your present now.." (Dan)"...............Hmm.......". Dan sees the shiny present 15 feet away. Hercule sneaks away behind a deserted car. Dan begins to walk over to the present. Hercule doesn't want to kill him, but distract him. Dan is approaching and now 7 feet away. Hercule smiles "YOU'RE TOAST!" He hits the detonator and an explosion erupts, causing a whole mess of debree to scatter. Dan is blown into the air. (Dan) "Aaaaaaaaaaggghhhhhh!". (Hercule) "Now's my chance! Time to finish this!". Hercule rushes over to the injured Dan. (Dan) "Wait!! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" (Hercule) "Uhh what?" Dan bows on his knees. (Dan) "Yeah I didn't mean it, can't you see I'm hurt?" (Hercule) "Uhh here let me help you up then." Dan smiles, and then suddenly comes up with Koryuken! (Dan's version of a Shoryuken), knocking Hercule into the sky. Hercule hits the ground. (Hercule) "Hey that was a dirty trick!" (Dan) "Look who's talking you could have killed me!" (Hercule) "I was only gonna scare ya a little." (Dan) "Liar!". (Hercule) "I'll show my Super Megaton Punch!" (Dan) It's no match for my pure awesomeness and dashing smile!". They both run at each other and swing, hitting each other at the same time in each other's faces.......... The alien that came with Hercule walks up upon the fight, only to see Dan and Hercule both knocked out. The alien has a "you've got to be kidding me" look on his face.

The alien then drags Hercule a few feet away and examines his interdimensional matter transporter. It seems a piece was knocked loose. He re-inserts it and the device lights up. It is now fully operational. The alien then activates the device and holds on to Hercule, the two are then transported back to their dimension. The alien searches Hercules clothes for some thing to tell him more about Hercule. He activates an analytical translator and decipher's Hercule's address from his driver's liscense found in his wallet. A dashing pose in the picture. The alien transports Hercule to his home, leaving him on his bed and then departs to his ship to go home. Dan wakes up where he was knocked out.....(Dan) "Ughhhh, what happened? Did I.....did I win??" He stands up and looks around. (Dan) "Damn, he got away. If I see him again I'll make sure to finish him off! Ugh! I better get back to the dojo, my new students won't teach themselves!". Hercule wakes up to find himself in his bed. (Hercule) Errr.....huh??? H-how did I get here?? Hmm, maybe it was that alien! Yeah that must be it. That Dan guy was sure a sneaky devil, kind of reminds me of someone but....I can't think who. Hmm, well what do I do now? Ahh! I better call my agent, and see what's next on the agenda. I can't disappoint my fans after all. Ahahahahaha!"

The Rise Of Evil Ryu

By: starlordtitus Jan 29, 2013 | 11 Comments

Among the biggest of our questions to Evil Ryu is the gaping hole in his chest. Now, we find out how he received it.

Reader's Note: The following story has 2 fight sequences. You can play the Ryu Theme Music video to be played at the beginning of the fight between Ryu and Ken, and then the Akuma vs Ryu Theme music video to be played during the fight between Akuma and Ryu.

A gentle breeze flows. The blades of grass under his feet feel full and lush. Ryu has returned to Japan. And he is standing in front of his master's temple. Lingering thoughts take him to his past battles with Akuma as he is here to finish the fight with the dreaded adversary. In the distance, he hears a voice "Ryu! Ryu! Hey man, long time no see". Ken has made it to Japan. The two have decided to face off against Akuma, but to determine who will fight him, they will spar against one another and choose a victor to fight the dark hado warrior. (Activate Ryu Theme Music now) We see Ryu and Ken on opposite sides, readied in stance and friendly greeting.

As they begin, they dash towards one another. Ken takes the initiative and leaps into the air and comes down with a hard kick. Ryu dodges by rolling underneath Ken and immediately turns around while crouched and fires a Hadouken towards Ken.  Ken dives to the right and merely dodges the fireball. Ryu then rushes in and begins throwing punches and hooks. Ken does his best to block and dodge while countering with quick-like feints and kicks. Ryu then blocks Ken's forward kick and grabs Ken, throwing him backwards. Ryu prepares another Hadouken, but Ken quickly regains composure as Ryu fires. Ken jumps over the fireball lands directly under Ryu, "SHORYUKEN!".  Ken lands a fierce dragon punch to Ryu. As Ken descends, Ryu double back flips in the air to regain bodily control and lands safely. Ken dashes toward Ryu to try and end the match quickly, but Ryu ensnares Ken with a hard hurricane kick, "TATSUMAKI KENPUUKYAKU!", landing multiple kicks on Ken. Ken quickly rebalances himself and sweeps Ryu to the ground. Ryu quick stands and the two then dash towards the other throwing a punch, simultaneously landing the blows to each other's faces. The two jump backwards to separate. They stare at each other as Ken begins to speak, "You haven't lost your touch, Ryu >:)". "And you've gotten stronger, Ken >=)" says Ryu.  "Ready to finish this!?"(Ken), "Let's do it!"(Ryu). The two then sprint towards the other ready to go all out, when suddenly out of the sky, insidious purple Zankuu Hadoukens (air fireballs) rain from the sky, forcing the two to dodge backwards and separate!

[Activate Akuma vs Ryu Theme]

(Akuma) " You two cubs prove to be mildly entertaining, but, it's time........PREPARE YOURSELF, RYU!". Ryu's eyes open wide as Akuma  rushes forward with blinding speed, punching Ryu in the face. Ryu tumbles on the ground and immediately rolls to recover composure. He then looks up to see Akuma in the skies, diving down to intercept Ryu as he stands up. Ryu jumps to the side, barely dodging the menacing blow to the ground. Ryu then rushes in with a fist to Akuma's core but Akuma blocks it with crossed arms and then forcibly moves Ryu's fist to the side as Akuma comes down with an overhead chop. However, Ryu is able to cross-arm block high as Akuma's thick hand hits. Ryu's body sinks a bit into the ground as the impact of Akuma's chop comes down on him. Ryu pushes upwards and breaks Akuma off of him, immediately going into a Shoryuken! But Akuma is too battle ready and back dashes, causing Ryu to miss entirely. In that moment, Akuma unleashes the Shun Goku Satsu(Raging Demon).

Akuma lands the devastating attack, ending it with a blow to Ryu's chest.

Ryu now in agonizing pain, realizes he is about to die. That Akuma seeks to murder him like he attempted with his master Gouken. A sudden anger is unleashed, and a burning desire to kill Akuma is unlocked! Ryu's eyes turn a scorching red and his teeth become fanged. Akuma watches in pleasure as the cub's dark hadou is finally released. Ryu then surprises Akuma by lunging forward while Akuma's fist is still in his body and hits Akuma's face with his head, knocking Akuma away a great distance. Akuma holds his face a bit in pain and in somewhat wonder as Ryu stands there with a malicious grin. The hole in his chest now pouring out with the dark energy, the Satsui No Hado. Akuma realizing the boy's power is now unleashed, now hungers to test the boy's power. But knowing Ryu has not fully mastered the dark hadou, it would be a shame to kill him now and not receive the full challenge he's sought after all this time. Akuma smiles and says "I'm proud of you boy, you're transcending has been a long coming desire. When you have fully mastered your power, seek me out and we shall have fight to the death!" Akuma then slams the ground with his fist and dark energy, creating a blinding flashing light and disappears. (Ryu)" I WILL KILL YOU, AKUMA...". Ken watches with a look of despair  for his friend, Ryu has succumbed to the Sastui No Hado(The Surge Of Killing Intent) And now must find a way to bring his friend back to his former self. But will Ken be able to save his closest friend???....

Playable Boss Characters

By: starlordtitus Jul 3, 2011 | 6 Comments

Over the years, developers have allowed the gamers to play as boss characters from time to time in video games. Is it a good idea? Boss characters usually have a clear advantage over normal characters. Well, let's take a look.

What was the first boss character you were able to play in a video game? Was it a fighting game? An RPG, a racing game? For me, it was Goro of Mortal Kombat 4.

It was really the first time where I felt like had greater power for wielding a character of such magnitude. Goro!? The 4 armed fighter of Mortal Kombat? This was too good to pass up. But as later releases came out, even Shao Kahn was playable. How rediculous is that? A powerful emperor to be playable, can you say spam selection?

More and more games would eventually allow boss characters to be played. Street fighter is a prime example. Vega, Balrog, Sagat, and M. Bison, would be playable characters even before Goro and Shao Kahn. Bowser from The Super Mario became available to play in Super Smash Bros Melee, I remember how cool we all thought that was going to be xD But are developers doing the right call when it comes to making boss characters playable? They spend a great amount of time coming up with menacing ideas to hype up a boss character, regardless of that character's alignment. Fighting a boss character usually means he has very distinct advantages over most of the characters in the game. Normally, greater damage output, higher defense, more health, and a grand arsenal of abilities that you normally have to develope a strategy for. So what happens when they make that character playable? They tone that character down, nerfing his abilities. Of course right? Balance is what developers want when it comes to competition, but at the same time it almost diminishes the boss character's status. The near fear of fighting a boss character is reduced when playing against a human opponent because one knows the boss character's abilities have been toned own. In the end it comes down to player skill to really win the match.

But then again, who wouldn't want to play with a boss character, some of these characters' aesthetics are really detailed and elaborate. They just look damn cool. And over the years, developers recieved great amounts of fan mail requesting that boss characters become playable. So the developers did just that, but they needed a formula for a boss to be playable, powerful, but not broken. And in the mist of their creation, 2 versions of boss characters were created. One for competition and players, the other for challenging through the story, campaign, or arcade, depending on what game you played. Sometimes however, there were other powerful characters in a game, Secret Characters. These characters would clearly have advantages over many of the normal characters in a game. Faster and and more resilient, secret characters would share properties of normal characters to keep them balanced, sometimes playing the role of a long lost character or new character all together. Discovering the movesets or abilitites of these characters and how to use them to win is the main purpose of secret characters.

One of my personal secret characters was  Mewtwo of Melee. Sure, it was discovered that his abilities in the game weren't as great as say, Fox xD But Mewtwo was still considered to be powerful, why? Because he was Mewtwo, the incredibly powerful pokemon we all abused in Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, Pearl, Diamond, Platinum, White, Black................oh wait, we're STILL abusing him. Mewtwo will always be one of y favorite characters for his awesome power.

Boss characters play an essential role in replability as well. Players enjoy becoming better in the games they play, but being able to play as the malicious boss character they just defeated and now earned the right to play as, with their own skill, is just simply put grand. There are, however, characters that have never been actually been truly enjoyed as playable boss characters. One such example is Sephiroth of Final Fantasy 7. Although Sephiroth was actually playable the games called Ehrgiez and the Itadaki Street series, has not been seen in any recent fighting games. Personally, I'd love to see Sephiroth and Cloud in Soul Calibur 5.

In conclusion, as of now there are many boss characters that have come to have great success in many games alike. It was a bit risky for developers, but they mangaged to pull them off. Among my favorite boss characters of all time are Algol of Soul Calibur 4 and Oni of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. Thanks for reading and I hope you all have your own favorite boss characters!

The Birth Of Oni

By: starlordtitus May 27, 2011 | 13 Comments

Just how did Akuma reach his current level of absolute power? What training method did he use? What event triggered his ascension beyond his already powerful Shin Akuma form??..

Clouds loomed over the night sky. A thunderstorm was approaching. The starry night sky and moonlit earth turned to darkness and shadows. There, in the middle of a grassy field having been dispersed by a powerful Sekia Kuretsuha (an emotion of powerful dark energy known as The Satsui No Hado), stood Akuma in thought. His eyes glowing red with power. Images of his battle with Gouken passed through his mind. His brother had obtained the Power Of Nothingness. Able now to neutralize any energy based or special attack, returning it to it's source, rendering it harmless. Akuma and Gouken have always been near equal in fighting ability, one specializing in offense while the other in defense. But if Gouken could make special attacks useless while still using his, Akuma would need to find a new weapon of offense.

A Look Into The Tournament Scene

By: starlordtitus May 20, 2011 | 9 Comments

Ever wonder why people go to tournaments? To compete, to be the best, the crowd? All of the above. Fact is, the tournament community could be better described as one big trash talking hyped up family. Let's take a look.

Many players that have decided to become serious about their skills head off to their nearest touranment and eventually the bigger tournaments such as EVO and the soon to be CEO. But tournaments are more than just entering and becoming champ, they in themselves have their own atmosphere. One often questions if he's ready for his or her's first tournament. The scene can be pretty intimidating the first time. Seeing other players there to do exactly what you came to do, compete to win and prove you are the best.

Most players end up losing within the first round, or, they end up going pretty far. But either they end up giving up, or the more likely scenario, they end up coming back for more. And eventually one discoveres the absolute joy of the tournament scene. Players become friends, hype is increased all around, and you may even find yourself admiring another players skill or they may admire yours! A player at a tournament will find inside jokes, create his own, befriend a whole group of players and even create his own. Tournaments also come with funny trash talking and the most common, "Being Salty' after losing in the tournament. A term used in reference to pouring salt on a wound which down right stings. The sound of arcade sticks clicking, loud funny remarks from your local token black guy :D. The increase of temperature as more people attend. The  list goes on. And so does the fun.

The tournament scene becomes that much more fun the more a player attends them, as he becomes more relaxed and learns the dos and don'ts. The player learns about the different fighting styles their are, strategies to bette one's game. The term "Leveling Up" is used in this scence as one gains experience. As such, the people of tournaments are usually very nice and funny. Humor is highly recommened to spread around. You could earn a nickname for any little thing. Eventually even earning a true name for yourself as you progress in ability. The greatest moments in a tournament, is during a high stakes match when both players are cutting it close  and one mistake could cost you the entire show. The hype only intensifies as the crowd roars with cheers and applause as well as down right screaming xD Perhaps the most unique thing you can find at a tournament, is the sight of girls! Yes, girls from time to time attend tournaments and even enter them a great amount of time for  those who wanted to stereo type video game tournaments XD

Aside from all of this, is the obvious payout should one win a tourney. Usually being a very good sum of money that most of us have to have a job to acquire :D In addition, respect from the community and eventually invitations to bigger tournaments as you progress. Tournaments have a little something for everyone, usually being held in hot spot locations that even provide food and drink. I highly recommend anyone interested in becoming better and competitive to enter a true sanctioned tournament.

Now, I leave you with a few classic examples of a tournament scene. You be the judge :]

Why Do I Love Fighters? Part II

By: ariscool24 Feb 2, 2011 | 9 Comments

This is a short story of why I should win the Marvel VS Capcom 3 Ultra Combo Giveaway. Well I think its short enjoy! ^_^

First of all, if you have not read my first story I suggest you click on the link below.

http://gouki.com/Story/Details/why-do-i-love-fighters

In my first story I told you guys I have a lot of reasons why I love fighters. Well only a clip and a few words can only do so much to tell this community how much I really feel about fighting games. So let me explain more of why I love fighters. Like most gamers out there I started gaming when I was about four years old. I really didn’t care for it at the time because all I had on my mind was a dream of becoming a Power ranger. And like all other four year olds, I played with lots of toys of course. I had friends but most of them lived to far, so staying at home was a no brainer for me. Now I do not remember how my older brother got his hands on a Sega Genesis so I’m just going to say it magically appeared to give this story some spice. The game I started off with on the Sega was Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic really made me happy for how no one else in my family was able to get so far on the game. And by my brother being eight years older than me it felt that much sweeter. I could never beat the dang video game, which leads me to forget about game. Until one day my brother bought the most amazing, electrifying game, Street Fighter II. When I first saw Street Fighter II I was blown away by the graphics, sound, & music. But with all of that said, that’s not what attracted me to the game. What really caught my attention was that versus screen. The fact that someone instead of the computer was playing against me just gave me goose bumps that were thick and solid as a basketball. I was in my sanctuary playing SF2 on the Sega Genesis with a smile so big the Joker would be jealous. I remember crying because M. Bison was beating me every time I’d reach the last stage. But one day I managed to beat him and during that whole year I never stopped smiling. A few years past by and If I remember correctly the Playstation system released. I got the Playstation the same year of its release with demos and all. Now I was into other games like Crash Bandicoot and more demos because for some odd reason fighting games like to take a few years off. Whatever the case that didn’t keep me from running into one of the greatest collaborations of all time. My mother works in the school system, so she had a really good relationship with the principle who owned the school. One night we were invited to the principle house or should I say mansion. And as the lady showed us around her lovely house she thought I felt bored. So she told me to go on the other side of the house and walk up stairs and I’ll be pleased to what her son was doing. When I finally got to the room I saw the game that almost made my head explode, Marvel VS Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. When I saw Wolverine fighting Ryu I was literally screaming out loud “Hey that’s Ryu from Street Fighter, that’s Wolverine from X-Men!” Everyone who were sitting down playing the game didn’t even get mad because they were just as hype as me. With the battle system moving so fast, I was blown away once again by gameplay. I wanted to spend the night but my mother had other plans. Seeing MvC for the first time reminded me how great fighting games are again. I started buying every fighting game I could get my hands on and also played at the local restaurants that had arcade cabinets. More years past as my love for fighters grew with games like Mvc2, Guilty Gear series, Capcom vs SNK series, Street Fighter Alpha series, and Bloody Roar series. Now remember these are fighting games so once again the hiatus for the genre hit big time which lasted for almost a decade. The Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii were the new babies. Games like Call of Duty and Halo was all we heard. Soul Caliber released and at the time felt really fresh, but it still didn’t feel that void. I hear some fighting game fans called it the dark ages and the feeling was just that “dark”.

Street Fighter IV released and it put a smile back on my face bringing back the technicality of fighters to the so called dead genre. Other game companies started to catch on to the revival of fighting games like Blazeblue and Tekken 6. Even upgraded versions of the heavy popular SFIV A.K.A vanilla noticed the trend it set and decided to make Super Street Fighter 4. The funny thing about all this was the fact that my friends doubted me on how well fighting games would do on the next gen consoles. Now most of my friends play fighters more than any other video game genre. In the middle of all this and after a decade of demand Capcom announces Marvel VS Capcom 3 Fate of Two Worlds. I was so excited for this game simply because I already knew one of my favorite Capcom character was going to make it on there. Dante was all I wanted when it came to this sequel. Heck, Capcom could have said Marvel VS Devil May Cry and that would have sold me there. With the internet blowing up with pictures and videos it was only a matter of time before I get my hands on the game. I never knew I it would be as soon as October, 28 2010. I was lucky enough to live in one of the cities where Capcom would be hosting Fight Club. Fight Club is basically a get together like a night club but with a preview of a video game they’re promoting. I was dead set on going to that event no matter what. I’m currently in college and I had a test early that same day. I made sure I studied up and was ready to go that same day right after class. I met up with my friends and we drove straight downtown to the Atlanta metro area. When we got there we couldn’t find the location or at least the spot where it was being hosted because a train was oddly blocking the parking space. We quickly found a parking space and climbed over the train to find our place in line for the event. To be honest, I felt like a rebel climbing over the train which made the hype meter for this event rise. When we finally got into the event I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was thinking here I am a guy who grew up playing this game and now I’m at a night event that’s promoting it, Godlike! I didn’t just play the game at the event ether I also made the most of my night there using my other talent dancing. I also took some pictures as proof of this Fight Club event. My love for fighters after that night just blew the top off. I’m so happy to see how much fighters have evolved yet stay true to the fans that’s been with them from day one. I hope I win this contest to show other people who are not into fighting games show how strong this community is. Heck, I hope this inspires people who are not into video games at all. The gaming community is growing very fast and I believe the whole world should witness this.

In this video you might catch me dancing at the Capcom Fight Club I attended in Atlanta, Georgia.

In this picture its me next to the lovely cosplayer Yaya Han.

My very first big tournament

By: blazemanx Jun 29, 2011 | 5 Comments

My thoughts on my very first big tournament and how it changed me.

Back before i entered this tournament i always thought i was really good. I would even go as far as to say i was cocky. That all changed february 23rd 2009 i was in for a rude awakening. Lets go back a little first do you remember the national street fighter 4 gamestop tournament when SF4 was released? Well i was in it and i was one of the two store champions and moved on to the second round. I won two SF4 wrist bands and a yellow store champion head band seen in the pic below.

Of course that win did nothing but increase my cockiness which is not a good thing. So going into this local SF4 tournament i felt that i was going to wipe the floor with these noobs. The first sign of trouble what that a lot of people showed up. Then more than half of them pulled out fightsticks i said to myself uh oh what have i gotten myself into. The other crippling factor was back then i played on the standard 360 controller and this tournament was held on the PS3 version.

My brother and my cousin (VERY good player) were in it also so no matter what the result i felt we had a chance to walk out winners. Oh how wrong i was, out of the three of us my cousin goes first and he narrowly defeats a good fightstick user. You can see them doing their good game handshake in the pic below. (he is the one in the black coat)

Next up was something that humbled me as a person and a player. I was nervous like most people would be in their first big tournament. My heart was beating out of my chest and the fact that you have a crowd watching only made it worse. I pick cammy and my opponent picked balrog the first round i was destroyed. The second round i managed to pull out a win to the shock of me and everybody else. The third round was more balrog rape and my whole tournament experience was over before it really began.

I did the customary good game handshake but i was dying inside i walked over in a corner and hung my head. I was waiting for my brother and cousin to finish up but i wanted to leave because i was embarrassed and shamed. When i look back on it though it made me a better player because after that i started to train hard and look up tactics and strategies for characters which is something i have never done before that. It also taught me the difference between cocky and confidence, which i had to learn the hard way. After that whole experience i found out im not nearly as good as i thought i was still close to beginner status. I have gotten a lot better since then and when i think about it if SF4 was never released i would have went on thinking im one of the best when in reality i was not very good at all. So in retrospect being humbled in front of a crowd is not that bad because it can change you for the better.

Any of you have tournament experience? Let us know and don't be a jimmy.

Street Fighter 4 + Kinect = Fun or Frustration

By: shenwoopunch Jan 19, 2011 | 13 Comments

As if in response to Ono's joke/interest in having a more interactive approach to SF4 by making a Nintendo Wii exercise game, one guy took matters into his own hands to create a Kinect mod for SF4.

Could this be another reason for people to get a Kinect besides the groping Kinect mod?  This was performed on the Street Fighter 4 PC version.  Play a bunch of rounds and you get a nice workout.  Plus, one could make hilarious youtube videos using this or it would be great for parties.  Unfortunately, the beta version uses the wiimote, but I think with some modifications in the programming, someone can make it playable without the wiimote.  You would also have to memorize a bunch of actions just to get a normal, special, super out.  Basically, you would have to relearn how to play the game with motion controls.  Kinect's ability to accurately capture all your actions is also questionable which can be annoying as well.

If you are really interested in messing around with the scripts and mod yourself, you can do so on the links below or you can just wait for someone else to do it for you lol.

Included also in the youtube description for the vid.

CEO 2011 To Be The Next Big Tournament Since Evo

By: starlordtitus May 31, 2011 | 5 Comments

Evo has always been the tournament to attend if you wanted to be big. But CEO has come together with the support of EVO to be the next in line of massive competitive play.

CEO is a tournament organization much similar Evo. Originated by Alex Jebaley, a high tier tournament player, he began to organize tournaments throughout the Florida over the last few years. From local tournaments at restaurants like Cafe Alma in St. Petersburg Florida, to arcades located in Orlando as well as hotels. One such occasion included an IMAX screen. At last year's CEO Winter Park Tournament in Orlando, many people showed up looking to take home 1st place including Flash Metroid, CJ Truth, Puerto Bronx, and Alex Jebailey himself who organized the tournament.

After the success of the tournament, Alex Jebailey set out to create a tournament  that would rival EVO. But he knew that it would foolish to compete against a tournament organization of that magnitude, so instead he enlisted their help. As a result, Alex successfully created a tournament worthy of being the brotherly rival of EVO. A 3 day gaming convention with gamers from all over the world coming to compete for cash and prizes. Venues of 18,000 square feet  at the Wyndham Orlando Resort.  Casual players will also be pleased to know that there will be many Casual Gaming Stations there to play the latest fighting games. In addition, there will also be Arcade Cabinets with past installments courtesy of DJ Delly. There will be Event Badges for sale as well as Spectator Badges for those who wish to bring their friends and family to watch the hyped up chaos. There will also be a Door Prize Raffle. The main video games for the tournaments include Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat 9, Tekken 6, Soul Calibur, Arcana Heart 3, Blaze Blue Continuum Shift 2, Super Smash Bros. BRAWL, as well as other touranaments that include classics such as HDR, CvS2, and 3rd Strike.

The tournament itself is set for June 10-12 in Orlando Florida. To give you an in-depth idea of how massive this tournament will be, I've included a few videos with the tournment's host himself, Alex Jebailey. If there was ever another tournment to attend, aside from EVO ouf course, it would be CEO 2011 Fighting Game Championships.
