Street Fighter 4 + Kinect = Fun or Frustration

By: shenwoopunch Jan 19, 2011 | 13 Comments

As if in response to Ono's joke/interest in having a more interactive approach to SF4 by making a Nintendo Wii exercise game, one guy took matters into his own hands to create a Kinect mod for SF4.

Could this be another reason for people to get a Kinect besides the groping Kinect mod?  This was performed on the Street Fighter 4 PC version.  Play a bunch of rounds and you get a nice workout.  Plus, one could make hilarious youtube videos using this or it would be great for parties.  Unfortunately, the beta version uses the wiimote, but I think with some modifications in the programming, someone can make it playable without the wiimote.  You would also have to memorize a bunch of actions just to get a normal, special, super out.  Basically, you would have to relearn how to play the game with motion controls.  Kinect's ability to accurately capture all your actions is also questionable which can be annoying as well.

If you are really interested in messing around with the scripts and mod yourself, you can do so on the links below or you can just wait for someone else to do it for you lol.

Included also in the youtube description for the vid.

Gouki and Taskmaster Marvel vs Capcom 3 Video Reveals

By: shenwoopunch Jan 17, 2011 | 18 Comments

Gouki and Taskmaster officially confirmed for all the naysayers even though they were leaked previously by someone working on the comic and in a game preview website.

LOL Steven Blum is the voice of Taskmaster.  If you didn't know he does a lot of voicework for animes and games.  Some examples are Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.  I didn't know he's 45.  Here's a wiki if you want to know more about the roles he has done.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Blum

Taskmaster looks like a solid new character with a bunch of moves that include a reflect fireball sword slash, Spiderman's Web Swing kick attack, Captain America's Stars and Stripes uppercut move as his Air Combo Launcher, and Captain America's Charging Stars attack.  He looks like he can play keepaway with his arrow shots, whack you around with combos, and appears to have a counter super as he catches Haggar during his jumping splash attack.  Taskmaster's theme sounds pretty good too.

Gouki's super Fireball, Mesatsu Hadouken, isn't just a beam anymore and now shoots a crapload of fireballs at you.  On the other hand, Gouki's air fireball super has changed into a beam version similar to Ryu's angled downward.   He has his demon flip move as well.  Unsurprisingly, his level 3 Super is his Raging Demon with new effects plus with the bonus of what appears to be projectile invincibility as he just charges right in to grab Doctor Doom during his Photon Array super.

Prototype 2 VGA trailer reveal

By: shenwoopunch Dec 11, 2010 | 5 Comments

Alex Mercer is back for another game but wait a new challenger has arrived!

I hope Prototype 2 actually answers questions left over from the first game instead of just making up new mysteries and leaving everybody in the dark about whatever happened to certain characters from Prototype 1.  It would be very lame if nothing was revealed and we are just left with a side mission story with the new guy.

Street Fighter Parody with Lionheart

By: shenwoopunch Dec 10, 2010 | 6 Comments

It's funny how just adding Street Fighter sounds to a movie can make it a little more interesting and slightly bearable.

Lyon seems to be such a cheesy character and probably needs to be nerfed.  Reminds me of how Guile is "broken" in SSF4.  The lessons are don't be a toy and never give up your family!

A Clever Stop Motion tribute to old Nintendo games

By: shenwoopunch Dec 9, 2010 | 2 Comments

The Nintendo games in the clip should be easy for most Nintendo fans to identify. Complete with the background music and sounds from their respective games.

The creator, bornforthis43, clearly put a lot of hours into moving and filming each scene.  It sort of makes you hungry for some snacks too.  A salad with croutons and mushrooms sounds good now.........
