It's been 5 years since the last one, anyone still interested in the series?
The glove, silencer, tie, and 47 on the barcode could mean we have a new Hitman game comming. The series was always fun for me, the movie not so much. Do any of you want to sneak around and wear disguises or have games like Bulletstorm got you in the mood for heavy action? I assume I'm not the only one who wants to get hyped for this, but how many of you have never even tried the series?
Don't be a Jimmy, speak your mind.
Disgaea has been DragonKiss 83's favorite strategy rpg series. The characters in the first were the best, but DragonKiss 83 thinks that #4 is giving the entire series a run for the money.
Nippon Ichi created an awesome legacy with the first game of the series and I've been hooked ever since. Laharl Quickly became one of my favorite video game characters. He was joined by Etna and Flonne and the three have been back in each game.
Disgaea 2 had a decent story, but the characters weren't as strong. Disgaea 3 came to the PS3 and had an interesting story but your main character was annoying as hell. And then we get Disgaea 4, your main character is still a bit annoying, but the story was much better. And your secondary characters were the key to it.
DESCO was probably one of my favorite characters in the game, she was a weapon built to be a final boss, but that went wrong so she eventually ends up on your team. Fuka refuses to except that she is dead and convinces herself it's all just a dream. But all of the characters bring some impressive moves into the mix. And your standard character classes have been revamped. Back in are the dragon and nekomanta (cat-lady) but the Angel is still MIA. Some of the other classes have been switched around but in my opinion it was for the best.
As far as the gameplay goes most of it follows the standard set up you have had before. The Item world will let you choose your path for building your innocents (boost the items) or the item itself. When you get the chance to have your own pirate ship you can customize it instead of just taking it from the pirates you defeat. And there are some online interactions to take advantage of PSN, but so far I'm not using them to much. Instead of the classworld from the last game you get a cam-pain room (think of a battle map) and you get these icons that have different effects on your team depending on the placement.
Without to many spoilers lets get into the story. Your main character Valvatorez is a former Tyrant but has been busted down to a prinny instructor. Fenrich is his servant and a werewolf, although only one of his moves really ever shows anything for it. When the prinnys disappear you go on a quest to save them. Along the way you find out that something is off with the corrupterment (government) and decide to fix it. You collect sidekicks as you go and they each have their own reasons for joining you. But as you make your way through the game they start to develop bonds that join them and bring you some comedy. The story wraps up nicely and covers the back story and loose ends as you go. I'm just now getting into the extra maps and story after the main story and collecting the characters as I go. I managed to get through the game with minimal level grinding and most of it was done in the item world to build them up and find new stuff. About 70 hours in the game and I can see a ton more ahead of me since I want to see the full epilog and all the endings.
Disgaea 4 is a BUY ME if you own a PS3 and enjoy strategy rpgs like Final Fantasy Tactics or anything along those lines.
If you pick up the game feel free to add me and I'll even send you some items to help you out.
Don't be a jimmy! Are you playing it? Plan to get it? Let's hear it.
A very weird cartoon will probably mean a very weird game.
The game Ugly Americans: Apocalysegeddon is based on a TV show on Comedy Central. If you never watched it I can explain real quick. The main character is a social worker for monsters. He helps them adapt and find a place in the world. They go though some really weird shit. His roomate and friend is a sex obsesed zombie. His co-worker is a drunk wizard. His girlfriend is a sucubus. And his boss is a demon trying to bring the world to it's end. There is also a human cop who is always trying to arrest or kill his monster clients. So yeah it's pretty strange. I'm not sure how they are planning to turn it into a game though. On gamasutra they say it will be a four player side scrolling shooter that you can download for $10. There are supposed to be more details given at E3.
Here the hackers go again
I try not to listen to roster leaks to often but after what happened with MVC3 I listening a little more.
http://shoryuken.com/content/rumor-full-mortal-kombat-9-roster-revealed-3855/ here's where I heard it.
They say the demo got hacked and they pulled the roster, might be believable. Ed Boon did say they had something special for the 360 users and I'm not seeing anything here. Maybe there are still some secrtets.
Details on the first DLC pack.
The price is set to be 400MS points or 5.00 on PSN, not but but what are they offering? Some new costumes (I know what a surprise), Shadow Mode will be there, Jill and Shuma are in (sorry if that was the only reason you picked up the S.E.).
If this will be how they roll out the DLC it should add value to getting it, but it feels like stuff that should have been in game. I know plenty of you have bought the costumes for SFIV but what happened to that stuff being unlockable in the game? Am I the only one who was proud of dumping in Hours just to be the only person you knew with Zack's Alien costume in DOA 3? I know that there is a group of people who want it all just handed to them, but that was part of the fun in beating the game. Who's getting the hook-up with pack 1? Thor, Captain America and Iron Man on the Marvel side, and Dante, Chris Redfield and Ryu on the Capcom side, not a ton, but hey they need the money right. But the Patriot skin for Iron Man, now they are mixing characters. Maybe we should expect an Iceman / Silver Surfer after all.
To say I have mixed feelings would be an understatement, but in this case I think Shadow Mode alone is worth the $5.00. We'll just have to wait for round 2 to see if they are going to milk it or really have something to add to the game.
Don't be a jimmy. You going to buy it, pissed, or really just don't care? Let's hear it.
E3 is so close and with all the hype going in where would you start?
I know that there are games like Twisted Metal, the Dragon Ball Z project, Ninja Gaiden 3, the Darkness 2, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, Dead Island, Battlfeild 3, Need for Speed the Run, Soul Calibur 5, and Hitman Absolution, my first choice is X-Men Destiny. And fair warning everytime I think I'm done another games pops in my head.
I'm a die hard X-men fan so Destiny is a game I want deatils on the most.
I'ld follow it up with Ninja Gaiden 3 since it will no doubt be bad ass.
I wish that Dead or Alive 5 was going to show up, but doubt it very much. So the number three spot would go to Soul Calibur 5.
After that it starts getting harder to put them in order. Twisted Metal has me really hyped, but so does Skyrim. How do you compare car combat to a massive RPG? Street Fighter vs Tekken has to be pretty high on list also, so it would work it's way in. And the Need for Speed game could be a lot of fun or total crap, so it's a gamble. the Darkness 2 probably won't be worth waiting in line to play but it would be worth a look for a fan of the comics. Hitman isn't going to be that different than the other ones, just shinier and with some new places to hunt your targets. Dead Island looks like it will take more than a quick hands on session to really get into it. The Dragon Ball Z game is going to get swamped by fanboys so it would be a must see, but since the wait might take awhile I'ld try to get to some of the other games first. And I'm curious about Skull Girls, but waiting to see more won't kill me. I almost forgot about the new Tranformers game, but that is due to low expectaions and high hope. And that leaves Battlefeild 3. This game already looks so good I'm dying to play it. So it is a must play.
And if there was time I'ld look for the Bleach, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, and Disgaea booths if they are there. But since they are already out in Japan they might not even make a showing. And Cars 2 would make my personal list because my son is dying to play it, but I have it pre-ordered from Amazon with release day delivery so it will be here just before his and my birthdays.
Are there games that I forgot? Maybe a few that you just would love to see, but have no hope for (Darkstalkers 4)? I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of you put up your wishlists so I can see some more great choices. Don't be a jimmy. And if you need help comming up with some games for you list check out this link. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/05/18/the-games-of-e3-2011.aspx

After a while being away from Gouki.com I have returned to find a challenge, I must somehow choose a team from a roster of the stars of Street Fighter and Tekken. Wish me luck.
The death of my pc has kept me from being able to post on here since November, but with a Laptop ready to go I return to the site to do some catching up, and what do I find? Gouki.com has another kickass giveaway going on. And this time it was for Street Fighter X Tekken. All it takes is write a story about the team you want to play as, easy right. Wrong. As I look over the roster I realize that a team of two characters just isn't big enough.
The truth is from the Tekken side I have a few favorites, Jin and Kazuya are at the top of the list but you can't overlook Yoshimitsu or King.
If they had the right Jin He'ld be on the team for sure.
I just couldn't decide. So I decided to check out the Street Fighter side. And it just made things worse. Ibuki felt like a sure thing, at first.
But as I looked at the list there were just to many great characters to choose from. Akuma (Gouki) is always high on the list
And you just can't over look Cammy...
This just keeps getting more complicated. I'm sure all use them all in various combinations until I find the right mix, but I still have to start somewhere. So I just keep watching videos and reminiscing about all the fun I've had with them in the past. And then it hit me. What better team could I start with? How was it not obvious from the start?
Poison and Juri! Juri is one of the craziest female characters to ever put the digital beatdown on anyone. And Poison can throw down with the best of them with the added bonus of distracting your opponent as the wonder if she's packing heat. The quest was over! For now at least. Until I have a chance to try the characters out and really get into the mechanics of the game (including how much I suck with various characters) I can't be sure what my final team will be, but I do have a place to start.
Best of luck to all of you who enter. And remember don't be a Jimmy!
And just for the Jimmys...
With Silicon Knights keeping the game very close those of us looking foe details have little to go on.
Acording to Denis Dyack from Silicon Knights that's just how he wants it. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/09/silicon-knights-denis-dyack-still-wary-of-game-previews-hints/
But there are still some bits that make their way out.
This little teaser shot hints at three playable characters. Aimi Yoshida http://gouki.com/Catalog/Details/x-men-destiny has got the most attention.
But while looking around online I found this.
Showing a male character in action.
We also see Quicksilver
And there has been talk about Woverine, Cyclops, and Emma Frost, Pyro, Nightcrawler, and Magneto in part because of the GameTrailers.com and other sites had a decent trailer.
And an official site http://www.herohq.com/xmendestiny that when you follow it to face books mentions that there is more comming at E3.
So far this is all I've found, but it's enough to start people off on all different topics. Making decisions that team you up or put you against the X-Men was confirmed. And Late 2011 for a date. Hopefully there will be some worthwile info from E3 to hold us over.
What do you want to see? Do you want more characters? Some footage of the combat system? More info about the other 2 characters you can play as? Let's here it.
Everyone with a smart phone, tablet, of kinect has played Angry Birds at least once, now you can do it as your favorite Star Wars characters.
The app actually came out yesterday, but I forgot. So this morning when I saw it I rushed to download it before I started my day. Normally I play with the sound off but I had to hear the sound affects. And they are good enough I will leave them on as I play later.
You get a few short little Star Wars vidoes then you are off on your first adventure to Tatooine, as Luke.
Then comes a real Jedi Obi Wan using a little force push.
Play a little and you get your first bonus mission, as R2D2 using his little shock and C3PO blowing apart.
And the last level I played before shutting it off has you facing Stormtrooper pigs, one even fires a blaster.
There is a lot more to do and my inner geek is screaming to play more, but unfortunately I have stuff to do.
There is an ad free version that only costs .99 on Amazon or a free version. I played 6 levels and a bonus mission and have only seen 2 ads so far. So what are you waiting for?

Dead or Alive came out in September, but unfortunately right after Borderlands 2. So I did try it for a few hours, but that had been it until today.
Dead or Alive has returned to the Playstaion for the first time in over a decade. And it has been since 2005 for the Xbox users. I've been a fan from the begging of the series and have enjoyed every game, except the handhelds. Naturally I was very excited to get the new one. And thanks to Gouki.com I was able to have a copy pre-ordered. Sadly when I first got it I was so hooked on Borderlands 2 I only played for a few hours. So I waited to do a review until I at least finished the story mode.
When you first jump in to story mode you get a short video of Bayman then it jumps to Zack training with the new MMA girl Mila. You enter that fight and are given a training mission. Not really what I was expecting, but I thought it would be okay. Back to Bayman and a mysterious ninja tears through his team. You get some more videos and the game is looking great as always. More videos. Then you get to a fight between Bass and Rig on the oil rig. Creative right? Another training mission. That is already old. Tutorials belong in their own section if you ask me. Another video, But then you finally get to the timeline screen and the game is ready to start. Kind of.
The timeline adds points as you make it through the story and you can go back and re-watch video or play a fight again if you missed the bonus mission. Kasumi is selected for you and you get three fights each with a bonus mission. Now I'm kind of annoyed with the missions being tacked on to the matches, And not getting to select my character sucks. Then you get a new chapter, three fights .... rinse ande repeat. The story starts to jump back and forth and you often end up on the other side of a fight that you already did. I made it up to Bass, chapter 8 I think, and then I decided to give it a rest. Playing through the story you unlock Akira and Sarah.
So when I picked it back up I was playing as Bass. Who has a very unnatural obsession with his daughter. And he comes out as a masked wrestler "Mr Strong". Still stuck in the same pattern. And it makes it hard to get familair with a character when you only get to do three fights then switch. Jan Lee wind the tournament but the story is not done. You eventually get to fight as Kasumi against Alpha-152. But the story is still not over. When you get to your final fights the character transforms as you fight. It still doesn't feel like a boss fight though. After everything is over you get a few of those this isn't over scenes so they can set up DoA 6.
As usual the levels are destructible and have areas you can knock people off, but they have added these more action sequences where the level kind of attacks you. One of the best examples is a war scene where incomming fire can hit you or your oponent when triggered. There was stuff like cars that could run you over in the last game, but they wanted it to be bigger. But I feel like it pulls you out of the game and sometimes takes takes way to long to get back to the fight.
You have your standard online and offline fights, including survival mode, arcade, time attack. And I've noticed some lag while playing offline and that bothered me. But going online some of the matches are pretty much unplayable.
You have costumes that you unlock by playing as a character in the offline modes. And of course there are DLC costumes like the one above for Hayabusa. Sadly many of them so far are just old costumes or are new but boring. Add being extremly over-priced and they get worse. The fist pack was free, but the new ones come out in groups of 3 or you can buy that weeks full bunde for $13. There are 3 of these already and the game is only a little over a month old. So if you are going for it to be complete it is going to be expensive.
I feel like the game isn't as fluid as usual, but it could just be being rusty from playing nothing but Borderlands 2. Overall you get the feeling that something is off. And it hasn't gone away. As much as I wanted to love the game I feel let down. It could just be that my expectations were to high, but I just can't give the game a buy it. If you are a huge fan you'll want it anyway, if not you will be better off renting it first.
