This is a list of every video game Gouki.com purchased in 2010. Have a look of exactly how much we spent on gaming.
We recently did the taxes and thought it would be a good idea to share with you all of our video game receipts from last year. Below you will find the date of purchase, where we purchased the game and the price we paid. Followed by a monthly total and a grand total at the end of the page. How much did we spend on video games last year?
Almost every game we purchased from Kmart was less that $45. That's a great average and we saved a ton at Kmart last year. You could save a lot of money at Best Buy if you are part of their Reward Zone Gamers Club. We got Gran Turismo there for less than $15. Not that it was worth $10. We also prefer Amazon, with features like $0.99 Release Day Delivery and New Releases being less than retail, you can't go wrong with those savings.

Final Fantasy XIV
BatRastered: Any game that sends you a letter apologizing for itself is a strong contender here. I mean, holy crap. I knew this game was trouble when goukijones couldn't get the benchmark program to run on a newish Windows 7 machine. It’s amazing that, even though I didn’t expect this game to be good at all, I was still very disappointed by what it turned out to be.
Goukijones: From the moment BatRastered explained that the benchmark program was trying to use DirectX 9 - from 10 years ago. To the letter I got from Square Enix that said "We fired everybody, We're very sorry, FF14 is still free." This is by far one of the biggest debacles in the history of video games. Square Enix went from 14 billion $$$ to 1 billion $$$ estimated earnings. Square Enix rushed FF14 out to try and capture an escaping market from WoW and FF11. Square Enix also tried to get a jump on other major MMO releases like DC Universe Online and the Star Wars The Old Republic. Also the most recent WoW update railed the FF14 sales. Because of all of this, Deus EX was "delayed", I say it's canceled. There's rumors that FF13 Versus or whatever those alleged spin-offs were called, have also been canceled. Kingdom Hearts III is never going to come out. Square Enix and it's fans are in for a rough 2011.

Thanks to Azrael once again @shoryuken.com forums for the translation!
How is everyone doing? It still doesn't feel like the New Year. But today I feel like I'd like to eat some New Year's dishes.
This is Tsukamoto.
If you're talking about Street Fighter, there are plenty of songs that are instantly recognizable that you want to sing along or hum to! So then, today we'll call on the Sound Creator Mr. Tomozawa to represent the sound team who creates these famous songs and sound effects.
Well then, please introduce yourself.
Nice to meet you, I'm the Sound Creator, Tomozawa. Continuing from SFIV, working together with the Sound Designer Mr. Endo I'm in charge of everything related to sound. My personality is that of a shut-in. As my job entails making sounds, I isolate myself so I don't bother everyone else. I also had the flu, so that played a part. At home, I'm in charge of babysitting, so that also contributes to my personality.

A special night for Street Fighter.
Tonight in Las Vegas, Capcom will be holding it's Fight Club event featuring Super Street Fighter 4. So far all we know is that everyone will be playable except the unnannounced Third Strike characters and the yet to be revealed Hakan. There are going to be a lot of camera's, so expect to see lots of footage hitting the web tonight and tomorrow.
If you would like to watch live streaming of the event, it will start here at 7 p.m. PST and for you people on the eastside, that's 10 p.m. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/unity-events
It will be a good chance for members of the community to do some more testing with Adon, Cody and Guy, as well as see what balance changes have happened to the rest of the cast since the Fight Club event in New York went down a few months back.Read full story...
Shortly after magazine scans hit the internet, Capcom releases a new trailer.
New trailer for Super Street Fighter 4 just hit! Enjoy!
To watch this in all of its HD glory, go here:
Second Ultra for each character finally confirmed!
A scan from the newest issue of Famitsu Magazine shows 2nd Ultra's, as well as some new costumes.
For a bigger image, click here:
Thanks go to El_Twelve over at the Shoryuken forums for a bit of a translation on some of these. As the rest of the scan gets translated I will update here. This is what we have so far:
Ryu's Ultra - Metsu Shoryuken - Basically describes it as a Shin Shoryuken with nastier looking effects.
Viper - Burning Dance - Activates in the air, kicks the opponent into the air and finishes with an electric cross chop.
Cammy - Cammy Quick Combination - It's a counter move, when opponent attacks, you'll counter with a submission hold combo (which probably involves Cammy rubbing her body all over her opponent...)
Fuerte - El Fuerte Ultra Spark - A close range grab, basically Propeller Tortilla the opponent into the air for a "finish hold" which could be any wrestling move. Can't make it out from the picture.
Something about rival characters appearing in arcade mode, even for new characters, and they'll all have cutscenes. Cody's rival is Guy.
New costumes for every character. Also says something about being "able to equip things as soon as you get it", but the scan is too blurry for me to make it out. Japanese being so contextual a language, I don't want to read too far into it.
Peek inside to see what sort of gaming resolutions I've set for 2010 (and fear not, there's no cheesy 1900x1200 jokes in here).
Is it really 2010 already? I can't believe another whole year flew by with me failing to make a single resolution; I guess I can look on the bright side: if I didn't make any resolutions, I kept all of them. So I decided that for 2010, I'm going to make a few resolutions, but being the gamer that I am, I decided to make all my resolutions gaming-related.
My first resolution is simple: pick up Final Fantasy XIII on day one. I've been excited for this game since the day I picked up Final Fantasy XII for the PS2, because - and let's be honest here - we can always rest assured there will be another Final Fantasy. This is really the series that single-handedly got me back into gaming after a period of absence from the hobby, and since then I've always hyped up the next Final Fantasy release.
Speaking of Final Fantasy, did I mention that another goal of mine is to go another year without playing an MMO. I did World of Warcraft for a bit in '08, but I quit in '09; it wasn't a resolution of mine, or even a goal...I just got bored with it. But in the time that I've spent away from World of Warcraft, I've realized that I want to avoid any MMO game like the plague. I lost too much of '08 to World of Warcraft, so here's to another year of keeping my life in tact. (I guess a few people are wondering what connection this has to Final Fantasy; do a quick little Google for Final Fantasy XIV if you still don't know.)
My other resolution for this year is to actually beat some of the games I buy. Last year was a great year for me in terms of buying games, but it was a horrible year for me in terms of playing them. Why does it seem that I have shelves lined with games that I haven't even started yet? Aside from my obligatory purchase of Final Fantasy XIII (and maybe Mass Effect 2...it looks very promising), I'm setting a goal for 2010 to not buy any games until I've beaten some of my backlog of games. Maybe I'll finally get around to playing some of those PS1 games this year if I hold out on buying any more games for a while.
So there you have it, folks: my 2010 gaming resolutions. I made it through this whole article without cracking a single joke about 1900x1200, a little bit surprising if I do say so myself. In any case, I think that 2010 may be my best year in a while in terms of gaming. I'm getting a new Final Fantasy, I'm getting to keep my social life - assuming that the new Final Fantasy doesn't eat it away for a while - and I'm going to complete a bunch of games that I haven't even gotten around to playing yet. I hope everyone has some great resolutions for 2010 - feel free to discuss them below - and I hope that everyone is able to stick to them until January 1 of 2011 rolls around. In the meantime, I guess there's only one thing I can say:
Happy 2010 to all the readers of Gouki!
