Shocking developments with the Grant Turismo 5 release date. News comes that the game has been delayed ... to just later sometime this year.
It seemed so unbelievable that Gran Turismo 5 would actually make it's November 2, 2010 release date. With all the recent news and videos of glitches and the ridiculous car flipping that just seems to auto correct you right-side-up and send you on your way.
Well guess what. DELAYED again. Gouki.com first saw this game in 2006 and E3. I played it, finished first and got a t-shirt. I remember this clearly Jimmy. Break into the turns and accelerate coming out.
So today news comes down from the Sony Blog, that Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed. Yet the game will be out this holiday season. Which could mean early January? Sony is very careful to not call this a "delay" but a "Release update." Release update heard.
From the Sony Blog:
"We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.
We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.
We’ll have more information for you in the near future."

Tonight Gouki.com editor GoukiJones was supposed to be pwnn some Final Fantasy XIV. Not writing a story about how Square Enix doesn't even have the right time of day on their news page.
Have few drinks, play a few games of Halo Wars and jump on the Final Fantasy for a few hours. Until your knees are so sore that you pass out from the pain six or seven hours later. That was the plan tonight. Just like the last three nights. But here I am writing this story because I don't know what the hell is going on with the FF14 right now.
Some of the Square Enix forums that are managed by users and you have to be logged in and accepted in that group to even read. Are saying things like you have to download files off of another website. Red and blue and bittorrents and megauplaod. WTF is this? Why doesn't Square Enix have a fix for us. That's when I came across this piece of news from their website.
The Square Enix official news site about the FF14 reads the wrong day. It's only September 5, 2010.
So apparently the servers are down now for emergency maintenance. This has also been going on since early AM. Allegedly.
Don't download no blue or red files off of megaupload. Wtf is a blue and red file?
My big issue here is the Square Enix website. Can we get the date and time right? This is exactly what I was talking about in my other story about the beta. The Square Enix website is BASS ACWARDS. They have the date of Japan and the hours of the Westcoast United States. I don't actually know when any of that news is posted or when the updates are going to take place. It's impossible to get any serious or real help and I'm going to be paying for a monthly service?
Also I go to the Beta site and log in. It redirects me to the regular Square Enix page with your profile and all that stuff. From there I don't know where to go. I close the page and click the direct link back to the beta site and boom redirected the regular page. Am I nubfarm? Is anybody else completely annoyed by this? Please tell that this game hasn't been rushed out before Blizzard can announce the next WOW at Blizzcon. That would be ridiculous.
Fuck it. Now what? All units?

All the fonts on the site are the same now. No more two different pairs of glasses.

For now any person that writes a story can link a catalog item. At the bottom of your story it will ask you to enter a game title from the [gouki.com/catalog]
The catalog has been updated also. You can sort catalog items by; coming soon, Editor's Choice or alphabetically. Coming soon list needs a "more" link and a more... button has been added to the homepage.
Story pages can now also be sorted; Most recent, Popular this week, and Most views all time. The story pages also have a page count, story count and a link to the very last page of stories.

Street Fighter IV got an update a few days ago adding new characters and Downloadable content.
I know I know! I haven't been a good writer or a good gamer lately. I haven't been updating my iPod games or even playing them much with the exception of Robot Unicorn Attack (one of the best pick and play games to give you an uncomfortable Gay feeling). So I was shocked the other day when I saw a massive update for Street Fighter IV on my iTunes apps update. The update added a couple of new characters namely E. Honda and Viper as well as adding a new option from the main menu, Downloadable content. I have yet been able to check out what you can buy and download since my wi-fi has been acting a bit wacky, that and my iPod's battery has been getting drained by all the SFIV I've been playing while out and about. As soon as get a chance I'll update this article with my findings in the downloadable content option.
ModNation Racers was updated this week with faster load times and shortcuts to make the game more accessible and easier to play with friends. Does it work?
Early morning August 4, 2010 ModNation Racers had an update. The update is gonna have all types of new goodies.
Load Time Improvements - While there are still loads, you will see decreases in load times throughout the game. Yes, yes. Later I will discuss why this did not work for us.
New “Casual” Difficulty Mode - We’ve added a “casual” difficulty setting in the options screen. Irrelevant, I only race online.
Challenge friends in XP Series - We’ve added the ability to invite your friends to XP Races & Series. Now this has me totally jazzed, team racing!
No more “Hot Lap” Cheaters - We fixed a bug that allowed players to cut the track and post unbeatable times in Hot Lap. Hot lap is great to learn any map real quick and I love being able to race ghosts of myself and other lap leaders.
Get into Online Races Quicker - Along with improved load times, we’ve removed the online game room from the ModSpot so you can get into the race faster. I can't believe the game shipped like this. I was screaming and yelling during the beta that this was not right.
Improved Server Stability - We’ve addressed issues to improve intermittent disconnects that players were experiencing. Yeah it would be nice if the servers worked better for any game online. Hell if Microsoft had just upgraded their shit, Jimmys would still be playing Halo 2 multiplayer online right now.
So let's get into yea? This first video is from the night before the update. I know most of you familiar with this game have probably seen similar videos that make fun of how long it takes for ModNation Racers to load, but hey it's me baby. Watch.
Of course yes, that is me pwnn. Did you notice that you are 6:45 into that video before the actual race starts. What do you think of my Jimmy mod?
Had a few more drinks, a few more races and then passed out. I think I left all the TV and PS3 on that night. I don't know, I definitely don't remember now. The videos pretty much speak for themselves.
The next morning we awoke early like around 11am to test the new update. Here watch this video.
So yeah actually crashes the Playstation. It may be more complex than that, but the Xbox never is. So I don't understand.
At this point I've had some coffee, fresh pots. BatRastered has logged in and we're going to play a XP race together. Now BatRastered logs in and gets into a race and expects me to be ready and the game hasn't even loaded yet. Hilarity ensues.
And then I fuck it up in the end. Oops.
Ok so finally we get it to work. I get railed. Lookin' like a nuab.
I wasn't too happy about that finish and I wanted to turn the camera off ASAP! Did you notice my little note at the end. Yes indeed return to the gameroom. The next game will start immediately, well if there is enough people in the room and after you wait for the 1 minute timer to run out.
Here's where we were having a problem. The game seemed to only load the same 3 or 4 maps and most of the time back to back. So if you were not paying attention, you could be racing the same race over and over. Even vetoing the tracks kept us in the same group of 3 or 4 maps. Finally I switched us to XP Series and that solved the problem.
ModNation Racers is a PS3 Exclusive. The kart handling in the game is incredibly similar to Mario Kart 64 and I absolutely love it. With this update you get the ability to race against your friends online competitively. Something Mario Kart has never allowed you to do this smoothly. Get on the PS3 Jimmy and race with Team Gouki! The SSF4 Arcade Edition Japanese Blog has been translated. Here are a list of Changes for some of the characters.
Note: These may not be the complete list of changes for these characters.
• Less recovery time on Crouching Medium Punch. He can now combo Crouching Medium Punch into Crouching Medium Kick.
• Improved the hit box for Crouching Light Punch.
• Target Combo hit box (Medium Punch into Hard Punch) also had its hitbox improved.
• Light Punch Shoryuken has 2 extra frames of recovery, but now does 120 damage. It did 100 damage in SSF4.
• EX Fireball can juggle twice in the air, so now you can get full juggle off a Light Punch Shoryuken into EX Fireball.
• EX Air Hurricane Kick can now be blocked high or low. Used to be that it had to be blocked high.
• Is considered to be mid-air right after the invincibility frames of his backdash end.
• Crouching Medium Kick start up is now 6 frames, which is 2 frames faster.
• Crouching Medium Punch and Crouching Medium Kick do less damage.
• More recovery time for Cosmic Heel (Down-Toward + Hard Kick, Launcher) on block.
• Less recovery time on EX Rolling Crystal Flash.
• You can now combo Crouching Medium Punch from an EX Rolling Crystal Flash.
• His Ultra 2 has slightly more startup time.
• Is considered to be mid-air right after the invincibility frames of his backdash end.
• EX Messiah does less damage. It took off 100 damage in SSF4.
• When Ultra 2 (Big Bang Typhoon) is used as an anti-air, it won't fully connect, so it does less damage in these scenarios now.

• Close and Far Standing Light Punch have an extra frame of advantage, making it +6 now.
• Close Standing Medium Kick has a 4 frame startup.

• Less stun and damage on the kick part of the Fireball Kick.
• No changes to Ultra 1, but because of the changes to the kick part of the Fireball Kick, it's easier to score knockdowns.
• Faster foot speed, while walking towards and backwards.
• EX Focus Attack hitbox improved (this could be incorrect, translation was a little fuzzy).

The number of stories a user can write per day has been increased to encourage users to write more. Also this will help your chances with all of our giveaways.
Previously users could only write 1 story per day. I know a lot of people want to write more, just not for the giveaways, but because they are enjoying the site and want to contribute. You can now write up to 2 stories per day. As the site grows and we move further away from our beta phases we will increase the number again.
So now Don't be a Jimmy. You still gotta get them approved. Write quality reviews, previews, blogs, share videos ... Keep it classy.

Two full days of experience and ranking up. Also, tons of walking around aimlessly. What have I learned from the beta so far?
Sqaure-Enix launched the Final Fantasy XIV beta early this week and it was a pain in the ass to get in. Apparently, from my understanding, Square-Enix opened up the beta with like 10 different servers. Those servers filled up faster than FNJimmy trying to solve any random puzzle in Darksiders. I had no chance that first day. I didn’t even really understand how and what was happening with trying get into the beta. I think the problem here is that the Square-Enix website is all done in Japanese and then translated straight over into English. The site is crazy backwards sometimes. Also I feel like I’m logging in a 100 times. Two days later, I did get a code and I was in.
With the beta you can create and play with as many different characters as you want. Actually I don’t know if that’s true, what I do know is that I have made 4 different characters. The first character I made was how I imagined I wanted him before I got the chance to play. I chose Disciple of the hand, Alchemist. I had no idea that with this selection I would have no weapon and my main attack would be “throw stone.” Thank god this is a trial run. At this point I tried to learn about the settings, moving around with a keyboard and getting familiar with the controls. I did a few quests, the levequest stuff is cool. So after playing for sometime and only doing 1 hit point of damage, I knew something was wrong and started my second character.
Disciple of war, Archer. Now I’m railin’ right out of the box. Gone are the days of gathering stones to throw at Nutbiters and here we go with 40+ hit point, crushing arrow blows to your dome. So now I got some combat under my belt for reals this time. I realize I just needed a little money and I could go buy any weapon I want. Once I buy a new weapon I can change my class. Buy a polearm, become a lancer. Buy a sword, become a gladiator. This also works with the crafting. Buy a sledgehammer, become a goldsmith. So yeah, you can start the game as any class you want. Now I can get my alchemist and get him a wand so he can start casting some magic.
Before I switch back to my original character I created. I made another character and started him in a different city. I chose for this Jimmy to be a Thaumaturge. Yea, I know the names of the classes are a little ridiculous in FF14. Thaumaturge means black mage in normal talk. I also picked a human male this time. Previously I had chosen the little Lalafell Jimmy and an Elf. My human mage started with high and equal HP/MP. Cool. He also dealt major solo damage. I didn’t want to play has a mage in this game, but I may level it secondary.
So now I think I understand the leveling, the controls and the questing. I start a third character, with a class I wouldn’t usually choose and in the third and final city. Disciple of war, Lancer. This city Ul’dah, is a city of bricks. One of the regrets I had in Final Fantasy XI was I chose the “castle city” in that game and I felt like I was in prison. So I don’t like Ul’dah in Final Fantasy XIV and I won’t choose this city. That’s official. I took my lancer out and killed a few things, got some gil. Final Fantasy money for you nuabs. Went back to town and bought myself a pick axe. Time to learn about mining. Got a levequest and took off out the front door. It took me a while to find the mining spots. Eventually I and it was there I discovered the mining mini-game. I couldn’t find any technique to swinging the pick axe other than to just keep whacking away at at the stone. I’m sure there is some trick to it.
Back to my original character. I got tons of money from stumbling around town doing quests. Got some money from being in parties earlier throwing rocks at Star Marmots out in the wild. Searched the town high and low looking for the Jimmy who had the magic wands for sale. Bought a bow and some arrows too. I already have my alchemy tools. Which I couldn’t figure out how to do shit for crafting. Fuck it. Lets kill something. Used the bow and arrows, killed a bunch of wild beasts(actually cute little furry things.) Leveled my Archer to rank 5 in no time. Now I’m starting to feel the leveling addiction. Wait what this? I just switch my bow and arrow to my magic wand and now I’m a Thaumaturge. WOW! Now I’m hurling magic balls across the grassy knolls. We are rollin’. By the way in FF14 the mages can throw magic “balls.” It’s a regular attack and uses NO mp. Cool stuff. Leveled my Thaumaturge to level 4.
The time has come for me to log back in. What will I do next? Trial and errors continues. Get ready for the Final Fantasy XIV release. Play it early if you get the Collector’s Edition. Don’t be a Jimmy. Join the Gouki Guild.
Portal 2 release dates slips. Valve thinks it okay though, claims the shortest delay in the history of the company.
I just received an email from Valve stating that Portal 2 will now be released on April 18, 2011. Valve claims this shortest delay in history. I think they are trying to be lol. But some gamers may not be too happy about it. I'd rather a good game be delayed then a shit game be released. And it's only two months. Here's the email I received.
"VALVE ANNOUNCES SHORTEST DELAY IN VALVE HISTORY
Valve today announced that Portal 2 -- the sequel to the ground-breaking title that won over 30 game of the year awards, despite missing its original ship date -- will now be available the week of April 18th, 2011. This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date."

Halo: Reach to be patched with new balance, and an old friend!!
At PAX's Halo-Fest, 343 Industries announced that a title update will be heading to Halo: Reach, changing some of the balance of the games's weapons and armor abilities.
First up, Armor Lock:
It looks as if the Armor lock ability will be nerfed quite a bit. first of all, plasma grenades will no longer detach from the player if they use armor lock. This I feel should be necessary because This is one of the abilities that I hated to deal with the most. Also, The duration of armor lock will now be based on how much energy a player has instead of a set time, effectively diminishing it's usefulness.
Next up on the list: Active Camo:
All they are going to do is shorten the amount of time you are in Active Camo mode. I don't know if this could be a good thing, or a bad thing.
and now, other balance changes:
Players will no longer block another players sword with any other weapons except for another sword. To me, this makes if feel more like classic Halo mechanic, seeing as how in Halo 2 and Halo 3, you couldn't block the sword with anything but the sword.
Players will also be able to change their reticule's "bloom", allowing for increased accuracy during rapid firing. To be honest, I could welcome this inclusion.
A shield bleed-through effect will be included in the update, meaning that any damage that takes out the last portion of your shield can be carried over to your health.
The last update is for those who like the magnum in Combat Evolved. the magnum will get a boost in it's power, being one step closer to it's original power. This is one of the best things I've heard for reach in a long time. Sure, the magnum is good as it is now in Reach, but with this upcoming update, It's probably going to be the go to gun, perhaps more than the DMR.
The update will kick in starting in October.
