SSFIV Character Roster finally confirmed?

By: crimson relic Dec 22, 2009 | 3 Comments

Upcoming Famitsu info is leaked.

A website(http://wiieveryday.blogspot.com/2009/12/famitsu-20091224.html) has leaked some SSFIV info by way of a summary on the next Famitsu magazine in Japan.

Translated, the text tells that the game is dated for an April 1st release in Japan at the pricetag of 3980 yen, about $40 here. It also reveals the last of the unconfirmed characters for SSFIV to, in fact, be Dudley, Makato, Ibuki and Hakan just as the original leaked list read.

One new piece of information was revealed as well...another new character only known as a "Shadow". The shadow came along with a reference of Sonic Booms. Could this be Charlie coming back? No one knows until some real scans come.

Check back here at Gouki.com, as we will have them as soon as they are available.

Here is the character roster as it stands.

EGM Magazine retruns!

By: goukijones Dec 21, 2009 | 2 Comments

My favorite video game magazine of all time! EGM returns in 2010!

My collection of EGM is incredible. It's like a history of video games for me. I bought two of the exact same EGMs once when I was younger. You probably are asking yourself why two? For a chance to win a Street Fighter II arcade machine Jimmy! Ohhhhh I wanted it so bad! Didn't get it.

EGM was cancelled a couple of years ago and the video game world was devastated. Although I was getting more up to date information online, I still enjoyed when my EGM came in the mail and I got to read through it.

When EGM was cancelled, Dan Hsu started up Bitmob.com. I love that site, but I'm super excited that the magazine is coming back. BERNER!

The first issue will come out in April unless this is just some elaborate April fool's joke. The magazine will be tied to a special online site with extra stuff that can be accessed by secret codes ior something.

ModNation Racers Beta First Impressions

By: goukijones Dec 18, 2009 | 7 Comments

First thing I did was time trials. After the first lap the automatic ghost of your fastest lap pops up. After the first lap you are constantly racing yourself. That had me hypnotized instantly.

After my first race in the time trials, I investigated the little racing world built inside the game for the community to meet up and show off their stuff called the Modspot. Vending machines offer other user created gear and karts. Then I found the customizable shop to edit your own lil Jimmy.  I spent about an hour just in that room. Built me a custom kart, named it “Gouki.com 001” Check the stats. Pimped my dude out with a fat gold crown on top of his head … “king-of-jimmys” is my PSN ID, check the stats yo!

Now I’m trying to get into a race and can’t even get the time trials to load up. Fuuuuuuuuck. Restart the house.

OK going back online.

I love the control with the turbo. I’m in a lobby right now. I haven’t even seen the weapons.  Gotta get a race, but can’t get an XP match to load. Going to try to time trial again, the competitive racing just won’t load right now.

Racing other peoples ghosts get me excited Jimmy. This is Mario Kart 64 all over for me right now.

I’ve tried the XP race a few times now and just can’t get into one.  Impossible. Lost connection again. The load times are unbelievable. The time trials are super fun. I was just racing my ghost and then I smoked him by like 8 seconds. Now it’s serious Jimmy!

At the end of the first day I created 3 different cars, 3 different Jimmys and did a lot of time trials. I could never get into an actual casual race or XP race. This “beta” really seemed like an alpha of just the Modspot.

Get it together here. Who’s in charge of this? Sony? WTF PS3.

PC version first and the Playstation 3 later on. Don't miss out on this FF Fans!!!

No time to screw around here. Well actually the site is down for me at the time of writing this. You gotta jump through a few hoops to get a log in, but it's easy. I don't care I wanna play I'm crazy for this shit Jimmy!

Roping enemies you shoot in the foot to take them back for the bounty is cool. Horse muscles Jimmy!

In this new video Rockstar shows off exactly what Red Dead Redemption is going to be about. If this video doesn't get you excited then you are on the wrong website.

I said it last time that just the scenery alone in this game is incredible. You get a good look at some of the shooting which looks fun. Be ready though, this game is a GTA in the wild wild west. That's why I'm excited about, GTA4 bored me after a while and I never finished it. Fuck it ... check out this video Jimmy!

On staged VGAs and missing websites

By: BatRastered Dec 15, 2009 | 4 Comments

A wildrant on what happened at the VGAs on spike.

We sat down and watched Spike TV's video game awards for 2009 last week. I have to say, most of what I saw didn't make much sense.

The show started off with an exclusive announcement trailer for the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum. They made this sound like news, but anyone who knows anything about the video game industry knew a sequel was coming given the finacial and critical success of the game. Still, it was nice to have it officially confirmed even if the teaser trailer didn't really show anything. The big problem was the website they plugged at the end of the trailer. arkhamhasmoved.com. It didn't work. It just showed an error message. I checked again later that night before I went to bed and while the site was no longer down, it simply linked to gametrailers.com (which didn't have the trailer up yet). WTF? Did you not know this was going to air today? You couldn't have had the site ready before the show. Dumb. Strangely this wasn't the only time this would happen during the night. (The site is now up and functioning, but it only shows the trailer and a register for updates form.)

Next was the award for best voice in a video game. There were some good nominees, including my choice, Mark Hamil for his work as the Joker in Arkham Asylum. Unfortunately Jack Black won for Brutal Legend. I'm not saying he wasn't good, but the whole event was staged. I seriously suspect spike of giving him the award just so it could have him on stage to do his little performance. (He obviously knew ahead of time that he was winning as the whole staff was in on his "joke" speech.) Fucking lame. Worse, it wasn't funny.

There were a couple more trailers, not even worth mentioning really, followed by the best "Action/Adventure game" award. Uncharted 2 and Batman: Arkahm Asylum were both nominated, so I was interested in seeing who would win this award, as it had (or should have had) implications for GOTY later. Nope... Fucking Assasin's Creed 2 won. WTF? Really? Does this mean an upset for GOTY? Because it'd be hard to be game of the year without being the best game in your genre... wouldn't it? (Ah, here I was assuming that Spike's awards would make sense, silly me.)

Then there was a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. It looked great and I'm excited for this game as I loved the first one, but here we go again with the websites. It revealed a URL: unleashed2010.com. I checked it out and was redirected to the Force Unleashed website at lucasarts.com. Yes, the website for the first game. Fuck. Seriously... you too Lucas Arts? Is anyone paying attention? Put your fucking website up before the trailer airs dumb shits! (Again, this website is now up, but it was a full day later). Fuckin' amateurs!

Best Individual sports game: UFC 2009, you knew that was a given on Spike... No, not fixed at all...

A Green Day Rock Band game was announced. Do we need another Rock Band game Jimmy? No. No we do not. I'm sick of 200 different versions of GH/RB whatever. Can't they just make DLC instead of selling new games for this shit.

Another announce trailer, this time for.... Another Medal of Honor game? WTF? Why? Oh... I see... They've gone all modern warfare too. (Get it? Modern Warfare 2, too... Eh, tough crowd.)

Ok, here comes the Halo: Reach trailer. Looks good, typical Halo style, mood, music, lighting, etc. Looks to be an in-game rendered cut-scene they are showing us. No gameplay revealed. Not much of anything new revealed really. We knew going in there'd be more Spartans as Reach is their home base. Having not seen any gameplay we can only speculate how this will affect it, squad based? Who knows? Release date... still just 2010, I assume around fall time like most Halo games.

Now it's time for Game of the Year. It's... Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. A great game and totaly deserving of this award. I still liked the Batman better, but I have no argument with this other than how the fuck is it game of the year if it's not even the best "Action/Adventure game" according to Spike. But whatever.

Oooh... an encore "musical" performance by The Bravery. FML.

Stay tuned this week for the nominees for the Jimmy Gems awards, right here on Gouki.com.

Force Unleashed Sequel Confirmed

By: jalexbrown Dec 12, 2009 | 4 Comments

Another sequel confirmed - with trailer - at the VGAs!

You didn't think you'd make it out of the VGAs with just one sequel confirmed, did you?  No, of course not; you got two sequels.  We already knew there was going to be a new Star Wars game announced, and really wasn't Force Unleashed the most likely contender?  Perhaps we could hope for a new single-player Knights of the Old Republic, but that wouldn't have been realistic.  So instead we get to settle for a sequel to Force Unleashed, which in its own right has potential to be pretty awesome.  Check out the trailer below for your amusement!

Arkham Asylum Sequel Confirmed

By: jalexbrown Dec 12, 2009 | 3 Comments

Rocksteady's ultra-successful Batman game is getting a confirmed follow-up!

Well, it's official; Arkham Asylum is getting a sequel.  It's been discussed amongst gamers since the first game was released, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that there would be massive interest in a sequel.  While little is known about the sequel at this point, there was a trailer unveiled at the VGAs that you can see below, for your viewing pleasure.  Be sure to keep an eye on this title, because it's almost guaranteed to be as much of a hit as the first one!

Strip all of your characters before any cut scene for hilariousness!

This happened on my second play thru. Money is not easy to come by early on in the game. So in classic RPG style I removed all the gear and weapons from party members I knew were going to die. Just to sell the equipment later. Jimah!

Borderlands is the King of invisible walls!

Understand first, that I love Borderlands! It was one of my favorite games from 2009 and I can't wait for me DLC. One night while playing I found the ultimate invisible wall! You can not believe this Jimmy! Believe me.

Off-screen HD Capture Jimmy!

It's purple Jimmy! He's got a purple HEAD! lol

I know this is old news. I just wanted to let everyone know I actually beat Shadow Complex with all the gear. I RAIPED THAT GAME!
