Eurogamer got an interview with Cliffy B at GDC recently. He tells us what $60 games should have these days...but Bulletstorm in no way, matches that...
So we all know what Bulletstorm is. Badass game with an 8 hour story, complete ass replay value and multiplayer that isn't very playable. Cliff was being interviewed by Egamers John Teti and Ellie Gibson.
Question starts at 15:30 " What do you think about Japanese game design right now..."
It starts about him talking about looking up to Japanese stuff as a kid, but then he goes into what video games should be like in general in todays market. Typed it out incase you didn't want to watch the video.
video and source: http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/gdc-after-dusk-episode-ii
"... it's weird for me to see amazing games come out, and it's just a 7 hour campaign. And I'm like, Guys, detatch yourself from being these amazing creatives who kicked ass for so many years and be objective and look at the market right now. We are in the era of a cautious consumer. $60 is alot to ask for day 1 price. So if you don't make gamers love a game and marry it, you are gonna be a day 1 rental, or a campaign rental. ...."
You need to put enough value in your game. If you have a short campaign, you better have a deep multiplayer. If you don't have a deep multiplayer you better have a 60 hour campaign."
If you are interested in the full video, it is mainly about developing gears of war, hipsters, nerd/street cred that he has to protect and how Nintendo/Mario is his inspiration and similiar to the main character of Gears. Anyways.....
I couldn't help but laugh. Bulletstorm is basically an 8 hour campaign with complete crap for multiplayer. Only a few levels and horrible net code make it easy to surpass. Echo mode is a score-attack of campaign. I originally wasn't going to make a story out of this but...why not? In older interviews he prides himself about being able to play the game and talk about what he wants changed and overall make it a better game before release. Epic jimmy action. I just think it's incredibly stupid, how about you guys? Know any other developers like this? Leave your comments below.
And if you didn't read the review: RENT IT!

Cliffy B and a bunch of other Jimmy's on the Bstorm site explain how having pvp in Bulletstorm would ruin the game and wouldn't be fair, or if you take out those ridiculous elements that "it wouldn't be Bulletstorm anymore". How about go fuck yourselves?
Bulletstorm doesn't have pvp, plain and simple. Members on Bulletstorm site a long with CliffyB say things like "It wouldn't be fun if you got leashed or hit with a flail gun, if we take those things out it wouldn't be Bulletstorm, it would lose its flare" blah blah blah. No, I got great fucking ideas on how you dick tits could make a excellent PVP segment and still be Bulletstorm.
Okay douche bags, plenty of weapons can still be used. The only restriction is CHARGED SHOTS, since they are overkill and alter bodies of enemies. The one charged shot that can be kept is the bouncer, as long as damage is sincerely nerfed. Weapons in general that can be used are bouncer, flail gun (the npc use it on us in single player, how about making the ammo capacity and damage lower and adding it to MP, or not at all, minor loss), Carbine, the pistol, sniper rifle (WITHOUT the controlled bullet, lol), that huge screw thing (with considerate damage nerf, keeping it as a long range weapon), and the boneduster is fine the way it is. This weapon set is already good enough, on top of that the Minigun could probably be some sort of rare spawn, or purchased with a RIDICULOUS amount of skill points (which I will explain how to integrate later).
BOOT AND LEASH MECHANICS /DROPKITS(or not)-
Big complaint is that leash and boot won't fit into pvp, wrong broseph, it can. In almost any shooter what do we have when we are low on ammo or close range? Melee. The boot would hit like a melee attack plain and simple. Also in single player there are plenty of explosive barrels and shit to kick around, why not have it in MP? Of course it won't explode the enemy into pieces, but just cause a considerable amount of splash damage. The Leash could be used in two ways. 1 way is to get creative with how you use barrels and other movable shit like dropped weapons for ammo (just like in single player) a second way is drop kits. Every game-mode of Bstorm has a form drop kits as a reward. I say they should be scattered around the MP maps, and you will have points based on your kills, allowing you to get more ammo or whatever. Also obviously no Thumper would be allowed.
HOW THE MAPS AND PLAYERS WORK-
Don't have to be that big. 10 man FFA or 5v5 TDM would be fine ( or more like a real shooter would be cool too) The co-op online maps are tiny pansy arenas, of course we would need something a little more open. Which shouldn't be hard, the single player has many of areas with hills, staircases and plenty of room to roam around and find cover. Also we should be able to integrate our custom characters from Anarchy to this mode (no brainer). The run function is fine and so is the sliding, damn sliding under a bridge while other people are shooting at you would be bad ass nice.
So yea, this has been on my mind for a bit and it does seem reasonable while still keeping the specialness of Bulletstorm. I don't know why they made a AMAZING game (gameplay wise and graphics AND content wise) but gave it almost no replay value, not even campaign co-op or ANY form of split screen. On top of that, the netcode for online co-op is worse than KOF 12, yea, that bad, or at least it is for every PS3 user.. Got a weird feeling some sort of douchey expensive PVP dlc could come out in months... or not and they will continue reh-tarded anarchy/echo/leash dlc. Tell me what you guys think, please feel free to add on any ideas, I'd love to see what you guys can come up with. Don't be a jimmy.

Alright dick-tits, Bulletstorm review has arrived!
BULLETSTORM! The highly controversial and gimmicky FPS of early 2011. I took my time on the game knowing it would't last me long. Here we go!
You, Grayson Hunt and your screw crash land on a once awesome resort planet. Well things went bad and you are fighting gnarly mutated enemies. The single player is about 8 hours long, like any basic campaign. They did a great job filling the game with cutscenes that highten the action. The action ofcourse is constantly thrown at you. One explosion after the next, followed by more bad guys, explosions, someone getting called a "dick" and ducking under cover while jimmys suround you. The way the story progresses is on point. As you uncover more of what the hell happened to this planet and how to get off of it, you find different types of enemies, all who tie into the story and have their own objectives and different attributes. The AI is relentless, at times they just nonstop spam fire at you, and also are smart about using cover-fire. Your leash, was meant to grade soldiers on their performance. The more creative you get, the more points you can spend on upgrades and new weapons. The game isn't all on foot either, you get your fair share of transportation. As the story progresses, you can sort of see some things coming, but this suprisingly wasn't a bad thing, everything was still fun. What this game did very well was Boss battles, good ole ridiculous huge monster boss battles and mini-bosses. Biggest complaint is that they have tons of mini bosses, but few real bosses. Without spoiling anything, this game better have a sequal, I was left on the biggest cliffhanger of my life.
GAME MECHANICS AND CONTROLS~
Bulletstorm is all about creativity. You have ridiculous weapons, a boot that kicks people into slow-mo and a leash that carries many possibilities. At first you may feel a bit pressured to getting points and doing skillshots found in the Database, but after a while it's second nature :) Even when you find yourself out of amo , your boot and leash can solve a few problems. Taking cover in this game is simply crouching, which works fine, but you may find a aprt of your body getting nipped somehow. A big problem in control was jumping and climbing. To do this you press X button when near an object. If you are in the middle of battle or trying to run this doesn't always go so smoothly. Running works well int he game and sliding is perfect for getting the hell out when your close to death. Nukem, that being said, good job.
GRAPHICS AND SOUND ~
Magnificent for both! Bulletstorm brings beautiful lush colors a long with dark and grimmey ones in perfect harmony. In the middle of intense battles sometimes you can't help but to notice your in a beautiful garden with amazing scenary....with limbs hanging on the walls. Bulletstorm may not have as much gritty detail as Killzone 3, but I feel the graphics are much better. The sound in Bulletstorm works well. The sound of gunfire is nice and blood gargling when you throat-shot someone are satisfying. The game ofcourse is constantly filled with mahem, but with all the action going on you can still clearly hear yourself speaking and your crew.
ECHO MODE ~
I don't hate it anymore, I just dislike it. Basically Echo takes tons of the epic levels / battles in Campaign and lets you replay them. It is basically Score-Attack and you get it posted on leaderboards. If you aren't into getting high scores it is a fun game-mode to play when your bored, and just want to blow stuff up. The plus side to it is that it features many maps, and you have to unlock most of them , giving you a slight competitive feeling.
This is my favorite part of Bulletstorm. This is up to 4 people co-op play, killing as a team. Each wave has a set amount of points. Your team must kill with skill together and try to maximize your points. Ofcourse as levels progress the enemies get gnarlier, and you get to spend your points on weapons and amo. The stupid part is that they only have THREE levels (6 if you buy the upcoming DLC >_>). But what keeps you playing this mode is the unlocks. You levels up ganing new titles, gun skins, and new skins for all your armor.
Basically Bulletstorm is as follows:
Story- Very likable characters and put together story line. Plenty of action , excitement, ridiculous disalouge and blood.
Game Mechanics and Controls - The boot and leash work well with this FPS. Controls work well, but action buttons for jumping is akward at times.
Graphics and Sound- Awe inspiring. In the misdt of this over the top bloody FPS we have vibrant colors and great lookin levels. Enemies death cries and trash talk are a good touch aswell.
Echo Mode- Isn't anything new, basically a score-attack for single player missions that can be posted on leaderboards.
Anarchy Mode- Co-op side of the game that places you in decent sized arenas. Leveling up allows you to customize your character ; killing in style. Big letdown with few maps.
In the end, Bulletstorm is simply amazing. This game feels like it has the ridiculous enemies, boss battles and weapons of Serious Sam, with the foul mouth of Duke Nukem but also adding its own flare. That being said it is hard NOT to enjoy the game. Unfortunately it doesn't have much replay value. Story -mode is your basic about 8 hour length and the other game modes really don't last you that long.My final verdict is a little hard to deliver because I enjoyed this game SO MUCH! But as a whole, you might aswell
RENT IT! You can get all of your Bulletstorm fun out in a week or 2 depending on how much you play, which is sad because they did an amazing job on this game. The game does heavily hint at a sequel, if there is a sequal let's hope they add LOTS more to this beast game.
" Here comes Butterdick Jones and his Heavenly Asshole Machine!"
Bulletstorm, it's a game full of tasteless but extremely funny humor and one- liners. http://www.youtube.com/user/NormalDifficulty loved dialogue so much he created a montage of ridiculous and raunchy sayings in the Campaign. The video doesn't really spoil much and it's not that long either. I laughed my ass off during the single player hearing some of these lines and laughed again watching the video, is it funny to you or just tasteless stupidity? Leave a comment below , jimmy ;)

Bulletstorm doesn't suck so much afterall! DLC announced and it is sounding gooooood.
First off, theirs already day 1 dlc which is called Standard Online Pass for $9.99/800 MSP, it gives you 6 bonus Echo levels (we ended up getting this a long with pre-order bonus ;D )
Screw Echo thats lame, the fun comes this SPRING! With the Gun Sonata pack for the same price. This DLC pack comes with much more though.
THREE new maps for Anarchy multiplayer mode, Sewers of Stygia, Hotel Elysium, and the Villa.
Two new Echo maps, Crash Site and Guns of Stygia (mehhhhh, gonna be a while before I could give a damn about this game-mode)
And two new Leash colors, Flamingo and Pulp. I'm guessing pink and orange? PINK LEASH SOUNDS AWESOME! Maybe they will have a different function aswell. (customizing your characters clothes a long with gun and leash are actually a nice touch in multiplayer)
Once again, this pack will be released this Spring for 800 msp/$9.99 on XBL and PSN.
-On a side note, a site listed a Royal leash will be EA store only and another dlc leash would be called Obsidian, it also lists the bonus leashes we got from playing demo and having day 1 DLC/limited edition, check it out here jimmy's-----http://game.downloadatoz.com/tutorial,9329,leash-colors-of-bulletstorm-guide.html
So what do you guys think of the DLC? I think it's worth it if you are into all the game modes...maybe $7.99 would feel a bit more reasonable, but since I strongly dislike Echo ( I might grow to like it) it feels like a $5 DLC for me. Leave your commnets below on what you think, jimmy!

Check out these 2 dudes pwn-raping a level in Echo!
A while back Bulletstorm had a competition with prizes to see who got the highest scores in the demo. A long with some prizes the top 2 dudes got to play a Echo level early on. The gameplay shows some beastly stuff we have't seen before, and towards the end of the video they give some insight on how the game feels compared to the demo such as how it is a lot more difficult than the demo. Leave a comment on what you think Jimmy! Bulletstorm releases in stores tomorow Feb 22nd.
"Arcade" a Swedish game designer working on Bulletstorm is a little ticked at how people think they won't like bulletstorm because its not a run of the mill military shooter. Check his video and blog reponse

Part of Arcade's post from PeopleCanFly blog
-Prefer using automatic rifles and other “realistic” stuff? Then stick to the PMC and the Screamer.
Want to duck behind cover, stand up and pop a few shots in the head of an enemy? Then be my guest, we have plenty of cover in Bulletstorm. The enemies use them, and so should you. Do you feel that the Leash and the Kick detracts from your ideal FPS experience? Then don’t use them. We don’t force you to. They’re just extra tools of destruction if you chose to use them. Do you feel that the Skillshot-system seems too overwhelming and doesn’t sit well with you? Then you can just go into the Options, turn off the Skillshot HUD and don’t pay attention to it. In a way, this makes for an even more visceral experience.- Source http://www.peoplecanfly.com/blog/2011/02/like-military-shooters/ (for the full blog on what he thinks) Bulletstorm is meant to be ridiculously epic. But I do rememebr as a child being addicted to Tony Hawks Pro Skater, I would get bored at how ridiculous it got, and I would purposely try to do more realistic stuff. It's awesome that BStorm can go both ways, but I'm definately playing it as ridiculous as possible :D How about you guys? After you beat it or whatever, would you change your gameplay for more difficulty? ( If ur interested in pre-ordering http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003H0CC2O?ie=UTF8&tag=goukicom-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003H0CC2O )
John Brandon from Fox News is concerned about Bulletstorm and young children, hes also a nubfarm.
The article is pretty long, heres an excerpt below:
"Parents had better beware: There's a Bulletstorm on the horizon.
In the new video game Bulletstorm due February 22, players are rewarded for shooting enemies in the private parts (such as the buttocks). There’s an excess of profanity, of course, including frequent use of F-words. And Bulletstorm is particularly gruesome, with body parts that explode all over the screen. But that's not the worst part. The in-game awards system, called Skill Shots, ties the ugly, graphic violence into explicit sex acts: "topless" means cutting a player in half, while a "gang bang" means killing multiple enemies. And with kids as young as 9 playing such games, the experts FoxNews.com spoke with were nearly universally worried that video game violence may be reaching a fever pitch. “If a younger kid experiences Bulletstorm's explicit language and violence, the damage could be significant,” Dr. Jerry Weichman, a clinical psychologist at the Hoag Neurosciences Institute in Southern California, told FoxNews.com. " source: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/02/08/bulletstorm-worst-game-kids/ (full article)
Yo seriously? Don't they realize kids cant even buy Mature games, its their parents or older sibling that would be feeding them this "ugly, graphic violence into explicit sex acts" It almost seems like every quarter of the year we get super violent games, only difference with Bulletstorm is creativity . And whats this about damage being significant? Later in the article they talk about how these sexual acts in gaming leads to real life rape. Yea maybe if you play RapePlay (don't play it btw). Even further in the article it says " the market is clearly aimed at young children" , how? I'm sure its clearly aimed as Mature audiences. Only good part of the article is that they had a bro from NationalYouthRightAssociation talking about how innovative Bstorm is and mentally unstable people will be fine. What do you guys think? Does Bulletstorms racy dialouge and suggestive themes enough for further BS news coverage (kinda like all the shit over GTA series), or is Fox just ...being Fox? Leave a comment below on what you think.
Juggler, Gang Bang, and Burn revealed.
Which is your favorite?
Bulletstorm - Skillisode Volume 3 trailer
Short but sweet.
The game looks just like the promotional YouTube videos, theirs blood and limbs everywhere! The feel of the game runs smoothly and killshots are...basically everything. Doing random shit and getting points and cool names for it is amusing. I found myself getting "Voodo Doll" majority of the time by randomly using the Leash. The leash is a nobrainer really, you can turn the corner, randomly use it homes to nearest opponent. Its charged versions does a AOE gravity thing and everyone flies up in slomo, good shit. In the end, I thought about the full game. I am a multiplayer oriented person and I accepted the fact of no PVP, the game will be extremely fun co-op but...the skill shots are what intrigues you the most and doing cool shit, it might get annoying playing online and getting kill stolen when your trying to pull off something beastly.Got home, downloaded the demo and played it right away. Honestly, I am impressed. The demo is short and a little bit linear, but its full of fun. It's you the chick and the cyborg black dude running around killing stuff. There is a good amount of enemies and the NPC on your team don't really seem to kill steal you during the demo, good shit. You run around this weird planet/spacehip and encounter mutant dudes. 5 weapons are available. The Peacemaker Carbine, Flail Gun, Leash, a minigun you can pick up and fling shot. The Carbine works like you thought it would, pretty bread and butter automatic rifle. It (like every other weapon) has a charge version that basically shoots out a beast shot that guarantees a kill on the enemy. The flail gun is a pistol but in its charge version it is like a Flare Gun and the fling shot wraps around enemies, the charge versions has bombs around it that blow them up.
Basicallly I reviewed the demo like this
Grahpics- top fucking notch, the game runs and looks beautifully.
Gameplay-perfect. Controls are easy and mapped well, after you kill like 2 enemies you got it. Npc's were super dumb, but its a demo, they should be. and they can take a hit, if you have bad aim and spam shots at someone, good chance they will get up, and that I really like.
Demo Presentation- Short but really made me want more. You get a good variety of weapons and a real feel of the game as you run around this...weird broken down world/ship?
In the end, I'm gonna end of buying the game, already had it pre-ordered ;D Buy it!
The demo also had some extra goodies. It shows you your friends scores on a leader board and you can also check the whole leader board but, there were some pre-order bonuses also.
After beating the demo it tells you congrats for beating it, and you unlock Boots and Armor and something different about the Leash for when you buy the full game...that's like half of the pre-order deal (especially for us PS3 users T_T). But all in all it was fun as hell, hope you guys play it too and write about what you thought....unless your playing Dead Space 2, have fun ;)
