Xenogears for PSN

By: DragonKiss83 Feb 21, 2011 | 8 Comments

And only a little over 2 years after Japan the US will be getting Xenogears on PSN.

Xenogears was easily one of the best RPGs I have played.  Who didn't love playing as Fei Wong and having access to Mechs?  And as a 15 year old boy the game had everything.  I know that it won't look as good as the Xenosaga games that came out later on, but if you never played the original, now is the time.  February 22 you can download it and see how it all got started.

Well what are you waiting for Jimmy?

You ready to know what the Golden Key does in Borderlands 2?

By: dragonkiss83 Sep 12, 2012 | 4 Comments

In the premiere club (pre-order) you get a golden key and now we know what it's for.

So, you’ve got a Golden Key. Maybe you pre-ordered Borderlands 2 from a Premiere Club retailer or maybe you were lucky enough to snag a code from a Gearbox event or giveaway -- there are a variety of ways to get a Golden Key, and somehow you nabbed one.  “But how, O handsome Gearbox developers,” you ask, “does the Golden Key work? Exactly? Also you are very handsome.” Firstly, thank you for the compliment. Secondly, the Golden Key is a rare item that unlocks a special Golden Chest in the friendly city of Sanctuary. Here’s what that Golden Chest looks like:

So, you’ve got a Golden Key in your profile and you start up the game. What happens next? Firstly, you’ll have to get to the city of Sanctuary. This should take you about three hours (two hours to play through the missions leading up to Sanctuary, and one hour for physical recovery after you injure yourself laughing at the impeccably written dialog). Then, you’ve got a decision to make. See, the loot inside the Golden Chest is always of “very rare” (purple) quality and scaled to your character’s level at the moment you open the chest. If you’ve only got one Key, you need to consider: do I want some high-quality loot right now, or do I want to wait until I’m closer to the (considerably more difficult) end of the game? Do I want my Level 21 Maya to open the chest, or should I switch to my Level 33 Axton? Keep in mind that you cannot trade or sell Golden Keys, and once you’ve used a Key to open the Golden Chest, that Key is gone for good. So, you know. Choose carefully. Whatever your decision, the loot you get from the Golden Chest is like any other piece of loot in the game – you can trade it, stash it, or sell it at your own discretion!

And knowing is half the battle... and for you younger jimmys google the reference.

BlazBlue character set to get dirty?

Noel Vermillion may be getting ready to show some skin.

Mai Shiranui will be there also.

It's a special kind of strategy RPG being brought to Japan by Namco Bandai, for some reason I don't see it making it to the US.  If you notice that the game has a panic button you might understand why we won't get it over here.

This is another game adaptation of the anime Queen's Blade.

And here is a video for the game.

Rage, Here comes another horror style FPS

By: DragonKiss83 Oct 17, 2011 | 4 Comments

Id Software has brought us a decent horror FPS, but the timing could have been better.

If you are a fan of horror based first person shooters Rage is a game you should check out, when you get the time.  FPS games have flooded the market all year long but right now we have Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 right around the corner it's hard to justify buying another shooter at the moment.  And if you look at the pile of recent releases there is a good chance you have picked up a few other fps recently.  I personally could wait until Borderlands 2 comes out to buy another shooter.

The driving bits are kind of fun and if you are on the four wheeler you can get launched off by running into something, that was great for a laugh.  But you do have some races you must do to get through the story and some give you weapons.  This is also available for some multiplayer action online.

I only played for a few hours but the weapons didn't seem to have much variety (Borderlands has spoiled me) you start with a pistol, later you pick up a shotgun, a sniper rifle, an assault rifle you can buy, and this wicked crossbow.  You can upgrade the weapons a little, but from the looks of it they are just minor tweaks.  With the pistol you also get a couple choices of ammo, so later in the game you could get more choices.

Overall the game was pretty fun, the story feel a little generic, you are a survivor that was lost in time who wakes up to a world in turmoil.  It's not bad, just not original.  But in most cases if you are playing a fps it's because you want to shoot shit and there is plenty of that.  You do get some boss fights mixed in to give you some variety.

So my official verdict is Rent It, but if they could have slipped it into a gap between games it could have got a buy it.

IGN interviews Randy Pitchford and you get some interesting dialog.

Embedding the video didn't work so if you want to watch over an hour of it follow the link.

You get everything from his opinion on used games to questions on Duke Nukem and his future and Borderlands 2.

Apparently he thinks that the developers should get a cut of the used game sales.  In my opinion if they aren't buying the game back themselves they don't have a right to the re-sale.  If I sold you my old car the maker doesn't get a cut.  At one point I managed a used video game store that was part of a small chain almost all of our profit was used games, with new games we made $5.  So something where we were basically taxed by the game studios would have been a disaster.

He also says that the Duke Nukem game wasn't incredible but was still above average.  I think he is either to sentimental about it to be objective or just wishful thinking.  He admits it was still a very 90's game.  But says in the next game he will evolve to fit our times better but won't abandon who he is.

He gets pretty off topic at times, but it just shows he is a "nerd".  He is into games, movies, comics, and all that goes with it.  He mentions community day, and I caught a decent part of it on stream and they showed some new in game footage of an after game boss.  They also talked about the possibility of more DLC characters.

Brothers in Arms Furious Four gets touched on some, but as a game I was not hyped about I kind of zoned out.  He makes it sound as if it's being split into two games.  Since the Furious Four was more of an Inglorious Bastards type story then fitting with the Brothers in Arms series.

He even agrees that the pre-order dlc exclusive to each retailer is a pain.  Then points out that Gamestop got something extra for Borderlands 2 because they invested in the game and the marketing.  So I guess I shouldn't gripe about it.

All I can say now is fuck I can't wait until Tuesday so I can start playing Borderlands 2.

Ready for Borderlands 2 to bring out DLC 2? Updated

By: dragonkiss83 Nov 16, 2012 | 9 Comments

If you are following Gaige on twitter you should have seen round one of the new hype train by now.

Started about an hour ago.

Hey g*uys! Sorr#y for the lack of upd%ates lately. My ECHO com’s been on $the friTz. I thin^ some)_’s tr#4ng to h/*ck it

Torgue should be a pretty familiar name by now, especially if you like blowing shit up.

So are you ready for the next round of DLC for Borderlands 2?  What are you hoping for? Besides the obvious level cap increase and extra backpack space.  Or more importantly are you hoping they leave stuff out?

Get ready, Vault Hunters -- Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, the second downloadable campaign add-on for Borderlands 2, is coming your way next week!

This story-driven expansion challenges players to conquer all that the titular Mr. Torgue has waiting in his newly-constructed Badass Crater of Badassitude, complete with a new storyline, new areas and environments, new bosses, new guns, new character customizations and more. In addition, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage features appearances from fan-favorite characters like Tiny Tina and Mad Moxxi!

Available for download on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 beginning next Tuesday, November 20, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage is the second of four add-on campaigns announced for Borderlands 2 and will be available for $9.99 / 800 Microsoft Points by itself or as part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass which bundles all four campaign add-ons for $29.99 / 2400 Microsoft Points.

I doubt we get to drive the big T-rex thing, but it looks crazy.

There are new Torgue vending machines that take only Torgue tokens.  So we get another useless currency. You get the tokens in an arena. The vending machines are going to have legendaries and new ones even.  So we'll se how that goes.

Ready for the Mechromancer in Borderlands 2?

By: dragonkiss83 Sep 11, 2012 | 1 Comments

The extra class has some more official info.

I saw this today on Facebook.  if you pre-ordered and got the Premiere Club you'll get it free.  If not it will cost you $9.99 on PS3 or 800 MSP on Xbox 360.  And it will be released on the 16th of October for everyone.  So we get about a month to play before we get the new class.  And with the weapon storage system they added the time you'll be able to level her up with ease.

I'll be on PS3 will any of you?  It seems most of the site is going to be playing it sooner or later how many pre-orders?  Anyone going to have to buy this later?

Rush Bros is freaking addictive

By: dragonkiss83 Jun 27, 2013 | 0 Comments

The game started off as a decent way to kill some time and turned into me trying everything I could to beat my ghost.

The set up is that two DJ brothers (Bass and Treble) split up and start competing.  Other than the opening the story basically disappears.  Not that you need a story with this.

The game is you racing from start to finish with arrows to guide you as you follow the path up, down, forward and backward.  Throw in some keys for doors that will have you backtracking.  Add in obstacles such as spikes, saw blades, pools of acid, and those big smashing areas and a simple game will start challenging you.  The graphics are nowhere near cutting edge but the background art is a surprising highlight on some of the levels.

Skullgirls brings their Nurse Valentine out to celebrate

By: dragonkiss83 Feb 14, 2012 | 4 Comments

What better way to spend the holiday than watching the debut of a new character?

Skullgirls is still waiting on a release date, but it just keeps looking better.  As a downloadable game for both PSN and XBL it has a lot of promise.  You'll start with 8 playable characters with more in the works for DLC.

Have you decided who you want to play as first?  Have you even heard of this game?  Are you a total Jimmy?

Skullgirls has revealed another character.

By: DragonKiss83 Sep 2, 2011 | 1 Comments

Skullgirls has been generating a ton of hype in the fighting community, are you ready for some more?

Today Playstation Blog has brought us Ms Fortune, the newest Skullgirl to be revealed.

Her story involves a heist gone wrong that ends with her being chopped into bits.  But a special artifact let her live through it so now she can use her detachable body parts for weapons.  And she is looking like the first character that I want to play as.  Although the "mummy/nurse girl they have shown in some fan art could give her some competition.

The all female roster will start with 8 characters.  5 have official reveals and another shows up on the blog a lot.  But in the source story they also confirm future DLC and that there will be a male presence.   With Konami on board this is looking like a must download gave if I've ever seen one.  Still no release date yet though, so we will have to wait for the chance to get it on PSN and Xbox Marketplace.  But they are still putting major work into the game to be sure it lives up to the dreams that were brought together to make the game.

So who is hype for the game?  Anyone try it yet?  I've watched streams and videos as they pop up and so far I'm impressed.  Be sure to check out some of the other great stories here on  including an exclusive interview.

Skullgirls just keeps looking better.

By: DragonKiss83 Mar 8, 2011 | 8 Comments

Get ready for a new fighting game to make a name for itself.

Skullgirls hasa had my attention since I first seen it here,, and I keep getting more interested each time I see it.

I love the hand drawn look that they are giving it and the characters all have some over the top style of their own.  But all fighting games depend on the mechanics more than anything.  They have plans to prevent infinite loops, you will have an option for tag team fights or a single player that's beefed up in vs mode.  They are using the Street Fighter style 6 button input.  But the combos will be easier to pull off than in games like SSF IV.  So I can't wait to give this a try.

What do you think?  Worth a try?  Total waste of time?  Don't be a Jimmy, let's hear what you think.

Thanks Games radar.

Skyrim + Vampries .... Dawnguard is coming

By: dragonkiss83 Jun 6, 2012 | 1 Comments

With the Elder Scrolls series we have come to expect a few things. Open worlds, kill-able NPCs and turning into a vampire and werewolf.

Now that is what I think of when I think about playing as a vampire.  Forget the Twilight angle where you don't realy look different. In the other Elder Scrolls games a vampire looked like everyone else, but the npcs knew you were infected.  The werewolf changed though.  I guess we can thank the Underworld series for getting the hellish looking vampire put in.

But you can also join the Dawnguard if you want to hunt vampires down.  So you can play it from the side you choose.

If you go vamp you can meet others like yourself and get into their stories.  They mention a girl caught between her parents as they fight for power.  Not exactly an original idea, but still sounds fun to me.

Transforming into the real vampire form will let you have some nasty melee along with special vampire skills.  Like bringing a corpse back to life to help you.  And with the wings you can take limited flight.

The expansion should be good for around 15 hours of extra play, but if you're like me you can go way beyond that just terrorizing the citizens.

It'll be on the 360 June 26th and PC and PS3 will have to wait an extra month.

And Game informer had a list of perks for the vampire:

  • Power of the Grave: 50 bonus points to health, magicka, and stamina
  • Vampire Grip: A Force Pull style ability that allows you to pull distant targets toward you and choke them
  • Summon Gargoyle: Conjure up some help in battle with one of these menacing monsters
  • Corpse Curse: Paralyze your foes with this magical blast
  • Detect All Creatures: A vampire who wants to live long should stay aware of his surroundings
  • Mist Form: Turn yourself into an invulnerable cloud of mist while regenerating your health, magicka, and stamina
  • Supernatural Reflexes: A slow motion style ability that allows you to move quickly in for a kill while the enemies move sluggishly
  • Blood Healing: Killing someone by biting them restores all of your health
  • Unearthly Kill: Night powers and Blood Magic cost 33% less
  • Poison Talons: Melee attacks deal 20 points of poison damage
  • Night Cloak: A shroud of bats feed on enemies within melee range
