There is no video of me. There is only video of the new Halo. Behold.
This is not what I was expecting at all. Just a few minutes of actual gameplay and what they showed was not good at all. I don’t want to bitch, I definitely don’t want to bitch, but there was nothing, nothing in that trailer that had me in awe. No cool explosions like the Ratchet and Clank, no innovative new matchmaking or battle royal/big team battle gameplay mode. Just 117 shooting some grunts, elites, and brutes. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.Read full story...

Not gonna lie. I love this game.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is an updated and modernized version of Final Fantasy VII which was originally released January 31, 1997. 23 years later the story of Final Fantasy VII is still a great story to watch and even more fun to play. The characters are all very well defined and you can easily get the feels if you can’t control your emotions. Barrett - The big brutish leader of an Avalanche strike team(kinda like terrorists.) He is constantly goading Cloud with lines during fighting and after fighting. It’s not just Barrett though, Aerith also gives Cloud a hard time. In one sequence, while just running from one area to the next, Cloud explains to Aerith that she needs to stay back during fights because it is dangerous. It just so happened that Aerith died in the next fight after she got all of the agro and told Cloud after the fight “I guess they were just going after the stronger fighter.” Jeez. There are characters giving shit to Cloud and it is great, the characters are very much alive this way.
The graphics in this game are on a next level. FFVIIR goes from cutscenes right into combat seamlessly. This is a game that makes me feel like I’m playing the cutscenes of the original 1997 version. One level has you hanging from the rafters underneath a plate in Midgar. You are overlooking one of the sectors below. The slums. If I swing my camera around too fast to look over the edge, my wife will turn away. She can’t look, says she gets the feeling of extreme height. You can have your breath taken away by that view and a lot more of the scenery if you take your time and look at all of the detail. Everything is rendered perfectly to fit together.Read full story...
What I had the most trouble with was reading the map. I couldn’t make it out of the first zone or past the quest “Stashes of Brann.”
Grimshade is a tactical turn-based game. During battle the teams are separated by a line down the middle of the battle field. You have a small grid to move your characters around on. It’s not free roaming like Final Fantasy Tactics, you can’t walk to the side of an enemy or get behind them. Some of the characters have moves that get behind the enemies, but every fight takes place with this virtual line in the sand.
I started the game on the hardest difficulty setting. The combat early felt more like I was just memorizing the sequence of attacks from the enemy to be ready to counter. I didn’t mind this and felt the combat getting more challenging with each fight, especially when I started adding more party members.
What I had the most trouble with was reading the map. I couldn’t make it out of the first zone or past the quest “Stashes of Brann.” I have played many games in my lifetime and spent two 90 minute sessions running around this map looking for this one missing item. I had collected two of the three items and the map showed me the general area they were located, but not exactly where. You can walk right into different areas of the map without any indication that it is happening. So I had the idea of just going around the outside and inside walls to search for the missing item. When I found the second item it was hidden underneath a floor tile. At this point I knew for sure which area one of the three items came from. The second item in my inventory I did not know what area I had picked it up in so that meant I had to search both areas again. This is when the back and forth started for like two hours. I knew it was one of two areas and I felt like I had completely combed both areas and clicked on everything possible. This is when I began to think that I may have glitched the game.Read full story...
Coming in 2019!
Generation Zero Beta Review
We played this together a few times. We didn’t find the game play very exciting or very in depth. GrrrtyGirl (My wife) made it clear that she wasn’t having fun killing the robot dogs. She was bored that it was all you could do in the game. We streamed a session where we are in the dark for over an hour, but at least the fireworks look cool at night.

If you are a Star Wars fan and haven't tried this game, you should really think about it!
When the game was to be released, Star Wars Battlefront II was all up in controversy. There was going to be a pay-to-win system in the game. At that point I was already out. Wait just one moment though… right before the game was released EA announces that loot crates won’t take real money and the system was going to be reworked. I still didn’t buy it so I decided to watch a bunch of different streams for about a week and then make my decision. What I saw was people having fun. A Lot of fun and I was in.
I played it pretty hardcore everyday for almost 4 months. I was rank 43 (50 was the highest at the time.) and I had all of the guns and attachments unlocked. I didn’t have all of the Star Cards. Star Cards were the packs you opened up to level up your cards. You could still just play the game and get the ingame free credits and buy the crates to level up the cards. That’s what I did. My collection was solid. Boba Fett was my absolute favorite. He was eventually nerfed, but I still have good chemistry with the controls. Star Wars Battlefront II has been a very solid experience for me. I love the game.

You can not stop the night from coming.
I am loving this game. This is my favorite 2018 Indie game to date. I can not stop digging. It has everything I love in a thrilling game play experience. You can build giant forts and setup a defense with turrets and traps. There are tons of places for exploration and many different materials to farm. There are over a hundred different things to craft including guns, armor, doors, and power generators. There is an entire water pressure dam system you can design and build on your own. That’s how you generate power for teleporters, doors, and turrets. I’m telling you, it's incredible!

During the Fortnite Pro-Am the internet did a crazy tilt with search analytics. Search engines became the tool used to find more information about the celebrity entrants and who they were playing with. The top searches may surprise you. They did me.
YouPorn reported Gamer traffic was down -13.57% during the event. This is evidence that gamers do have other interests beyond just the thrill of playing their favorite game. The Fortnite Pro-Am was the second major event for Fortnite this year. The first event hosted by Twitch streamer Ninja was located in Las Vegas and aptly name Ninja Vegas. Fortnite is a very interesting and exciting game to watch, especially at the high levels these players strive to maintain. At some points the storm area would get so small with 6 players still competing for the #1 spot. Towers being built to the sky, strategies and high-level endgame fighting that we had never really seen before.Read full story...
Borderlands and Zombie Base Defense game fans should take a look at Fortnite. It's super fun!
We are a little late to the party playing Fortnite. For whatever reason, when Fortnite came out, I didn’t play it. I was probably playing something else. Recently, Fortnite went on sale again, this time we all made the purchase. Oh man, do I regret not playing this game sooner. First of all, I did play the Battle Royal for a couple of weeks and have some first place finishes under my belt. However, I never made it over to the PvE. We in there now. And I think it’s incredible.Read full story...
Can 2018 produce better video games than 2017?!
#1 Red Dead Redemption 2
This game is a former Gouki.com Jimmy Gem Game of the Year. Just recently, well 2 years ago now I guess… I played Red Dead Redemption again and it still holds up and is still one of my all-time favorites. Rockstar only releases new games every 5 years, so get hype! RDR2 is going to be the game of the year. (No specific release date as of this post)
#2 The Last of US Part 2
When the first game came out I did not expect that I would like it as much as I did. In fact, I played through it twice. It's one of those rare games that I played back to back immediately and I can not wait to play the new sequel. Another strong potential for game of the year. (No specific release date as of this post)
Oh boy. EA. The game is being made by BioWare and published by EA. I love all the Mass Effect, Star Wars Kotor, and Dragon Age games, so I am hype for a what seems to be a full-on-multiplayer-space-scramble-mass-effect-shooter-magic-lootfest-madness. So IF that works and it’s not full of buy a loot chest with real money bullshit, it might be a great game. I think we can live without the loot crate system in video games. Good luck to BioWare. The entire internet is on standby, watching EA desecrate and ruin the history of great game franchises and developers. Anthem will be very interesting to watch and play in 2018. (No specific release date as of this post)
#4 Crackdown 3
I can’t wait for this game. The previous Crackdown games have great memories for me. I would have never played Crackdown in the first place if the Halo 3 Beta wasn’t on the disc. But I found that the climbing, shooting, leveling up, and the party system made Crackdown super fun to play. When I wasn’t playing Halo 3. Crackdown 3 will be an easy purchase for a bunch of friends and the game will be superfun to play together. Invite me. (No specific release date as of this post)
There were a few other games I noted, but overall these 4 games are the only options I believe, that can pull me away from the good games I am already playing. When I started writing this list, I was for sure 2018 could be better than 2017. I’m now thinking that maybe it’s going to be a really rough year. What’s up with that new Metroid? Where is the Battle Royal Halo 6 game? WTF is happening to the XBOX console? Seriously tho...
What video games are you most looking forward to in 2018?
Thank you for reading.
GoukiJones' top 9 favorite games from 2017. Old and new.
#9 Halo Wars 2: was the first major release for me this year that I was really into. The original came out in 2009 or something and I was still playing it up to the release of this new version. I played the new version for a little while, but as I sit here and try to recollect my experiences… There isn’t much. I don’t have much desire to play this game, it just seems to have way too much going on. I’d try to play the original Halo Wars again before I booted part 2 up.
#8 Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age: This is my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time. I was so thrilled to hear Square was planning to re-release this game in 2017. I got it and beat it again. Easily the FF game I’ve beaten the most. I plan to go back in, one more time, to max out every character. One of these days...

This is a review of my time with the beta.
This is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever seen. The sound effects are spot on and the entire presentation gives you a good feel of Star Wars. I’m trying to say a few nice things before I absolutely rip into this game. The shooting is fun, I didn’t play Battlefield 1, I wish had. But in Battlefront 2 it definitely reminds me of old Battlefield games. If you’re not aware of the zone and game type and where your enemies are, you’re going to die without even knowing wtf happened to you.
Let’s get this part of the issue out of the way. There are loot crates in this game. The loot crates have upgrades to all of your classes and cosmetics for all of your characters. It is stupid. If somebody dropped a few hundred dollars on the first day, there’s a huge potential of maxing out all characters and having overpowered Heroes. As if the Heroes weren’t strong enough from the start. You get one free crate a day. Thanks! You can earn credits to open crates while playing the game, but it seems like the max points you can earn are 150. You can get 150 credits, by making finishing the objective, or not allow the enemy to take the final objective. It seems more based on time then experience, because if you have 2 kills and I have 20, we both get 150 points. So I just don’t understand, there is no incentive to perform, rather you just don’t quit.
What’s with these gd pigeons…

When people ask me what is my favorite Final Fantasy, I tell them it’s Final Fantasy XII. And most people look at me like I’m crazy. When I ask if they’ve even played the game, and they say no. So… I’m telling you guys, you have to give it a shot.
This IS my favorite Final Fantasy. The world is huge and connected all throughout, you can walk from one end to the to other. Fully animated cut scenes and great voice acting bring the characters to life. I love them all. The story includes Final Fantasy Judges, Viera, magic, mystery, two brothers in conflict, betrayal, a lost boy, a thief and his co-pilot, a dead husband and powerful enemy. I love this story. (Yes, I have actually watched the story cut scenes in this game.) Most conclusively, the main reason I love FF12 is the combat has been my favorite design in any Final Fantasy. The gambit system and programming your team to react in battle is a blast. It’s the main element why I’ve played through it 3 times. *3 times is a lot for me in my world of gaming.Read full story...
